I spent most of 2024 focused on a goal and now that I've had some time off, done a lot of reflecting and waiting on God, I've discovered that the goal isn't even something I want.

In the middle of it, I didn't stop to acknowledge how much I wasn't enjoying the work. I ignored so many signals my body and mind were giving me.

So I'm over here at age 51 still learning things about myself, what I like, what I don't like, how I want my day-to-day to look and I'm ok with that. I've always loved change and growth.

But it makes much more sense to me to focus on listening to that still small voice that guides me into the best path I should take each day. The rest will work itself out.

Another made up holiday today, but couldn't pass this one up: It's National Sticker Day!

I love stickers and always have.

Do you remember Mrs Grossman's stickers? Also the scratch and sniff ones? I still have my sticker collection from childhood. It's in a 3-ring Carolina Tarheels binder.

If there are stickers on display in a store, I'm drawn to them like a moth to a flame.

I don't keep a sticker book anymore, but I do decorate my water bottle with them. While I really do love the knitting nerd one b/c I truly am (more like knitting obsessed), my absolute fave on this bottle is the yellow tiger one. My son, Cal designed it!

My goal for 2024 in Goodreads ads was 30 books. It was probably a bit low tbh. I'm pleased to say I surpassed it with 47 books and have a goal to read 50 in 2025.

Not surprised to see it's "National Motivation and Inspiration Day" (even though in reality, we know these "holidays" are completely made up).

It's January 2. The books are closed on 2024, we've turned the page and it's all crisp and white. I'll admit I love the feeling of a fresh start - that's why I really like Mondays - but I'm not one to set resolutions.

Too much pressure.

I like the idea of adopting new rhythms.

Here are a few of mine--some are new and others are things I'm continuing on because they work...

📍 Take a walk within one hour of waking up at least 3-4 days a week.
📍 Plan my fun for the week on Sundays.
📍 Keep track of my books on Goodreads (I surpassed my 2024 goal, so I'm upping it to 50 books this year).
📍 Buy vintage / thrifted clothes instead of new clothes.
📍 Buy second-hand books instead of new ones.
📍 Watch the sunset from the beach once a week.
📍 Stay up-to-date with business finance tracking.
📍 Work in the earlier hours of the day to maximize my productivity.
📍 Read, do crosswords and knit to my heart's content!
