Somehow, summer is already winding down, and not long after the leaves change our beautiful Utah mountains will be covered in snow and ski season will be here.

It is also hard to believe we are already a few months into scouting for Volume 2.

Lately I have been thinking about how different this summer feels from last summer. A year ago I was introducing myself, explaining what The Scout Guide was, meeting business owners for the first time, and talking about this beautiful guide that did not actually exist in Salt Lake yet.

Now it does.

One of the things that has made me happiest is running into some of those same people and watching them see Volume 1 for the first time. There is something really special about handing someone the actual guide after they remember hearing me talk about it last year. Seeing their excitement has genuinely meant so much to me.

I still love introducing someone to The Scout Guide for the first time, hearing how they started their business, learning what they are working on, and finding myself in places I might never have walked into otherwise.

I have met so many wonderful people through Volume 1 and I love that I keep meeting more. Salt Lake keeps surprising me and I cannot wait to see what Volume 2 brings.

Utah doesn’t have just one fall, it has three! & they don’t happen all at once. 🍂

Color moves down from the mountains in elevation order over the course of a month or so. Meaning peak week in the Uintas is not peak week in Big Cottonwood, and peak week in Big Cottonwood is not peak week outside Moab, etc.

This is the week by week breakdown we are using all season to track exactly where color actually is right now, not just where it usually is by this point in September.

THIS ONE'S FOR JENNY | Glam by Jenny is a Volume 1 member of TSG Salt Lake, a talented nail artist, a small business owner, and a single mom of two. Last month a devastating fire at her apartment complex in Midvale took her home and nearly everything she owned. Jenny and her children escaped with what they had on them and have been rebuilding from the ground up ever since.
