Let's be honest: not every project deserves a spot in your portfolio. 😬

Your website isn't a scrapbook. It's a sales tool.
If your dream client lands on your portfolio today…
→ Are you showing them the kind of work you want more of?
→ Or just whatever was easiest to upload?

A curated, strategic portfolio attracts aligned inquiries.
A cluttered one leads to awkward conversations and misaligned leads.

This post walks you through our go-to process for editing your portfolio like a pro. It'll help your website work for you, not just sit there looking pretty.

You have 8 seconds.

That's how long someone gives your homepage before they decide to stay or nope out.
And if your headline is vague…
If your offer is buried…
If your call to action is MIA…

💨 They're gone.

The good news? Fixing this doesn't require a full website overhaul.
You just need to dial in the most important section: above the fold (a.k.a. what they see before they scroll).

In this post, I'll walk you through the exact ingredients to keep visitors engaged, clicking, and converting.

Let's stop letting your most valuable real estate sit there like digital hot garbage, shall we?

They're circling the runway.

They've seen the work. They're picturing the after. They're so close to saying yes.

But here's the thing:
Even your most aligned clients need a little nudge to land the plane.

This is the Decision Phase of the client journey, and what they're really craving at this stage is clarity, not more content.

What helps here:
✨ "Now booking" posts (so they know it's time to act)
✨ A breakdown of what's included (because no one likes guessing)
✨ Client wins and "after" moments (proof they're not the only ones who've felt unsure and said yes anyway)

You don't need to say more.
You need to say the right things in the right order.

👏🏼 Make the next step obvious.
Remove just enough friction.
Let the decision feel aligned.

🎯 Need help building a system that does this on repeat? We've got you. Book your Business Growth Blueprint—link in bio.

✨ Client Journey Series | Consideration Phase ✨

They're not strangers anymore.
They've seen your work.
They're clicking around.
And they're asking, "Could this be the one?"

This is the Consideration Phase—and your content here should stop being cute and start being clear.

They're comparing options.
Zooming in on your portfolio.
Reading that one blog post from 2021, like it holds the secrets of the universe.

Here's what they really want to know:
→ Can I trust you?
→ Will this feel easy?
→ Are you actually worth the investment?

This is the time to show your receipts.
Pull back the curtain on your process.
Share a client win that still gives you goosebumps.
Answer the questions you wish they'd ask.

Because if your content is still trying to "go viral" at this stage—it's doing your sales process a disservice.

Give your future clients the clarity they need to step forward.

Otherwise…your leads will just keep lurking in the shadows—and your bookings? Still TBD. 🫠

✨ NEW: Client Journey Series | Awareness Phase ✨

If your dream clients aren't knocking…it might be because they don't know you exist yet.
(Not exactly their fault, right?)

This is the Awareness Phase.
They're not actively looking.
But they're casually scrolling.
And their outdated kitchen is quietly driving them bananas.

That's your window. 👏🏼👏🏼

This is when your content should catch their eye—not go in for the sale.
No pressure. No push. Just helpful, "ooh, interesting" content that builds familiarity.

At this stage, you want to:
→ Educate with small tips or pro insights
→ Entertain with myths or hot takes
→ Inspire with project reveals or creative ideas

Basically: show up, be helpful, and give them a reason to stick around.

Because when this content is done well, your name starts sticking in their brain like a catchy jingle.

And when it's not?
Well…that's how you end up with a lot of marketing activities and no impact. 🫠

👉🏼 Save this for your next content planning session

✨ NEW SERIES ✨

Ever feel like your content calendar was built by a friendly but slightly chaotic raccoon?

One day you're showing off a project, the next it's "Now booking!"—and somehow it still feels like crickets.

Here's the deal:
Not every post should sell.
But every post should serve. Your clients. Your strategy. Your sanity.

This week, we're breaking down the 3 phases of the client journey—and the kind of content that supports each one:

👀 Awareness – They don't know you yet (but they should)
🤔 Consideration – They're curious and weighing their options
🛎 Decision – They're ready...help them say yes

Because when your content speaks to the right stage, it stops feeling random and starts working—automagically.

Want content that actually supports your sales process (instead of tossing posts into the void)?

📲 Follow along and save each post in the series—you'll want this for your next planning session.

You don't need a new content calendar. You need to listen more closely to your last consult call.

✨ Every "But what if…"
✨ Every "I wasn't sure if I should even ask this…"
✨ Every "I thought designers only did…"

That's your next post.

Real questions = content that converts.
And when you answer those questions with empathy and strategy?
You don't just educate—you earn trust. (Which turns into booked clients.)

👇 This post breaks down 5 common client comments and how to flip them into sales-driven content that warms leads and moves them forward.

From toy tornado to peaceful haven.
From decision fatigue to "I actually enjoy being home."

The real magic of your work isn't just the pretty pictures.
It's the way your clients feel when they live in the space you've created.

🛋 It's morning routines that don't feel chaotic.
🍷 Dinner parties that don't require a cleanup sprint.
🧠 More mental space and less clutter in their day.

Want messaging that sticks? Don't just show what changed. Show how they changed.

✨ Talk about the tension they felt before.
✨ Show the relief and confidence they feel now.
✨ Let their words do the heavy lifting (testimonial gold, my friend).

You don't just redesign spaces.
You redesign how people live inside them.

✨ Picture this: a home where mornings actually feel calm.

Your clients aren't hiring you just for furniture layouts or fabric selections.
They're chasing a feeling.

A kitchen that fuels connection (not chaos).
A playroom that doesn't look like a yard sale.
A bedroom that feels like a reset button, not just a room with a bed.

When your messaging reflects what they really want (not just what you deliver), you build emotional momentum.

And that's what moves them from "just looking" to "how soon can we start?"

Pro tip: The words "finally" and "feel like" are magic when writing client-centric copy. Try them. Often.

Let your content whisper: "This is possible for you."

Cluttered rooms. Outdated layouts. Toy chaos in every corner.
That's what your clients are really trying to solve.

When designers lead with style terms and surface-level features, they miss the chance to say:I see you. I can help.

✨ Client-centric messaging starts with empathy. Not just what they say out loud, but what's simmering under the surface.

Instead of listing your process step-by-step, ask:
➡ What's frustrating them right now?
➡ What do they wish their home felt like at 6 PM on a Tuesday?

Speak to that, and you become unforgettable.

No fluff. No fancy copywriting rules. Just showing up to offer your help where they really need it.

What if your discovery call didn't just book projects—but paid the bills, too? ✨

I recently joined Josh Hall on the Web Design Business podcast to share how we turned our discovery process into a $2K offer that builds clarity, confidence, and consistent $30K+ projects.

No sales scripts. No pressure. Just real strategy.

In this episode, we cover:
→ Why strategy-first work leads to stronger client trust
→ What's inside our paid Business Growth Blueprint
→ How we price, structure, and deliver a session that drives results
→ The exact mindset shift that turned this offer into recurring revenue (and more calm)

If you're tired of chasing leads, juggling custom quotes, or guessing what clients actually need… this one's for you. 🌱
