Born and raised in Minneapolis, in the air-conditioned state of Minnesota, I have always been drawn to the less obvious beauty in the world around me. Beyond the stone-arched bridges, the multiple city lakes and the mighty Mississippi. I found so much more to engage my senses, and later, my camera lens. I am flexible with my subject matter, but my passion is capturing the beauty in every day stree
t scenes, in abandoned buildings, and in the juxtapositions of life. My style of portraiture does not include posing my clients, I would rather let the camera tell me who they are as they move naturally in the environment of the session; this creates a unique and personal portrait. The mechanics of photography require a knowledge of aperture, camera angle and shutter speed. The art of photography requires heart, a curiosity, a drive to look beyond what everyone else sees and a vision of exactly how to capture it. An old professor of mine once advised, “view the world through a different lens than everyone else.” I take this thought with me wherever I go.
