Hot take from someone who does marketing for a living.
I don’t have a vendetta against AI. I actually think it’s a useful tool when it’s used the right way.
But if you’re using AI to completely create your flyers, logos, or marketing, you’re doing your business a disservice.
A flyer isn’t just about making something “look cool.” It’s your first impression. It’s supposed to stop people from scrolling, grab the attention of your audience, and make them want to learn more.
AI doesn’t know your customers. It doesn’t know your brand. It doesn’t know the personality of your business or what makes people choose you over your competitors. It only knows the prompt you gave it.
That’s why so many AI flyers all look the same. They’re flashy, cluttered, and immediately recognizable. As a marketer, I can usually tell it’s AI before I even read the words.
And here’s the thing people don’t talk about: whether you personally like AI or not, there are customers who don’t. There are people who scroll right past AI flyers, won’t attend events promoted with them, and choose to support businesses that invest in real people instead. It’s not just one person’s opinion anymore. There are thousands of people online saying the exact same thing.
More importantly, generic marketing creates a generic impression. If your marketing looks like everyone else’s, people will assume your business is like everyone else’s.
If you don’t want to hire a designer, that’s completely okay. Learn Canva. Learn basic design principles. There are so many free resources available today that can help you create something unique to your business.
But if you can hire someone, do it. You’re not just paying for a pretty flyer. You’re paying for strategy, branding, and someone who understands your audience and knows how to get their attention.
And if you’re looking for someone to do it the right way, my inbox is always open. I can usually turn around a custom flyer just as fast as AI, but it’ll actually be built around your business instead of a generic prompt.
Because your business deserves more than a copy and paste design. It deserves marketing that people remember.
