Holding on to this unique Oregon Maple burl for a three weeks now wanting to make something as special as the wood is!
I knew it couldn’t be filled with colored epoxy - it had to be clear to show the details of the wood.
🤔💡…leave the wood a bit higher to create a cliff overlooking the ocean. ✅

Not a charcuterie board, but a maybe a kitchen table centerpiece? Salt & pepper, and napkins safe and dry atop the cliff.

Finished up a two more boards this afternoon in preparation for a few Spring shows just around the corner!
The dried white daisies laid on black resin with this particulary darker piece a black walnut has a warm formal feel to me.
Also my first opportunity working with Olive wood and the colors did not disappoint. The long dark and golden brown graining came to life after oiling for sure. Turquoise is not a color I use often, but seems to fit this wood.
