Great brands don’t just look polished.
They sound clear.

If someone lands on your site, hears your pitch, or scrolls through your feed and still doesn’t understand what you do or how you can help them—your messaging probably needs help.

It was either unclear, too wordy, or used language that felt disconnected from your audience.

That’s why it’s critical to invest in your messaging to ensure it’s concise, relatable, actionable, and, most importantly, crystal clear.

Clarity earns trust.
Clarity removes hesitation.
Clarity makes the right people say, “Yes. That makes sense. I need that.”

Messaging is not about being flashy, cute, or clever.
It’s about finding the right words and using them consistently.

Last week, team members Justin Point and Mark Henderson escaped the office to play in the Justin Lake Golf Tournament.

Held in memory of Justin Lake, this annual event is the primary fundraiser for the Lake Family Foundation, established after Justin's unexpected passing in 2021. Each year, proceeds support local nonprofits that provide food, shelter, care, and hope to people in need throughout our community.

It’s a great event and one that we are proud to help support.

If you’d like to put together a team for next year, you can learn more about the Lake Family Foundation and the annual tournament at the link below.

Ever wonder why some videos look cinematic while others don't?

The difference is usually color grading.

Color grading is much more than just fixing color issues. It's a critical part of the post-production process that requires careful attention to detail, creative judgment, and technical expertise.

Done well, it shapes the mood, reinforces the story, creates visual consistency, and gives a video a polished look that viewers subconsciously feel.

Whether the goal is a warm, nostalgic tone or something bold and dramatic, color grading helps transform raw footage—which often appears flat and lifeless straight out of the camera—into a visual experience that captures attention.

This simple before-and-after comparison from a recent Cannonball video shoot highlights why post-production matters. The difference isn't accidental. It's the result of a deliberate process designed to help our clients’ stories look their best.

What’s the underrated part of working at an agency?

Getting out from behind the desk once in a while.

Last month, our team was in Montana, but not to sit in a conference room. We were there to shoot video for a new client, capturing their experiences and what makes their market truly unique.

And that’s one reason video is so powerful. It brings products, services, and experiences to life in a way that nothing else can.

Our very own Damaris Cuevas showed up to work with a hoodie that she made over the weekend. It just goes to show that creativity doesn't only show up in client work!

We love working alongside people who bring their ideas, personality, and unique perspective to everything they do. It's what makes our team stronger and our work better.

Shout out to Damaris for her one-of-a-kind swag!

The office is quiet today.

The lights are off.
The desks are empty.
But the work is still getting done.

Work-from-home Mondays and Fridays are part of the Cannonball culture and a year-round benefit for our team. We trust great people to do great work, whether they're at a desk, a kitchen table, or their favorite coffee shop.

Of course, some of us prefer to come into the office and enjoy the quiet. We see you, Tobaria! 😉

Work hard.
Have fun.
Get s**t done!

Turns out, that's a pretty good way to work.

Zero-click search.
What it means and why it matters to your business.👇🏽

If you're still judging marketing success by clicks from search engine results pages, you’re missing out on the full picture.

More people are getting answers directly from Google, ChatGPT, and other AI-powered platforms without ever visiting a website.

That’s called zero-click search, and it's changing how brands earn visibility online.

That doesn't mean SEO is dead.

It means the goalposts are moving.

Today, buyers can discover your company, evaluate your expertise, and form opinions about your brand before they ever click a link.

Organizations that understand this shift are focusing on more than just rankings and traffic. They're building authority, creating genuinely helpful content, and ensuring they're visible wherever AI platforms look for answers.

We've been having a lot of conversations about this recently, and it's clear that many businesses haven't fully grasped how quickly search behavior is evolving.

The good news? There are practical steps you can take today to stay visible and relevant as AI continues to reshape the way people find information.

In a recent article, we unpack this seismic shift, what it means, and how to react.

Here’s why creative projects can feel messy, and why they don’t have to be:

There’s a big misconception that creative work follows a straight line from idea to finished product.

In reality, the best ideas come from exploring a lot of different directions, testing assumptions, and refining concepts along the way.

That’s not inefficient.
It’s the normal process.

The challenge is that clients and stakeholders—especially when working with an inexperienced creative—only see the final result. They don’t see the research, strategy, internal collaboration, and problem-solving that happen behind the scenes and fuel a final deliverable.

When that vital work stays hidden from a client, it’s really difficult to build trust.

At Cannonball, our creative professionals know (from years of experience) that bringing people into the process early helps create better conversations, stronger alignment, and better outcomes.

It also helps everyone writing the checks understand that creativity isn’t about getting it perfect on the first try.

It’s about finding the best solution to the problem.

If you lead projects, manage teams, work with creative professionals, or are looking to hire one soon, understanding all of this can help you get better work and avoid unnecessary friction along the way.

This is a big topic, and we recently unpacked it in a lot more detail, along with practical ways to build trust throughout the creative process, in a recent article.

The best digital marketing strategies rarely come from a single person with a single idea.

They come from teams that challenge each other, share ideas and perspectives, embrace new approaches, and are relentlessly curious about changes in our industry.

That describes our digital marketing team.

And we believe that the agencies that will lead tomorrow are the ones learning today.

We just happen to be doing both now!

Three dudes walkin’ the streets of Bozeman, Montana.✌️

A few of us recently spent time in big sky country with a new client, digging into their story, capturing content, and laying the groundwork for something pretty exciting.

We can’t share everything just yet, but trust us, it’s coming.
