As temperatures are expected to reach well into the 90s and into the 100s, Lansdale Electric is asking customers to conserve power. Please be aware that we are asking customers to reduce power as a way to reduce costs for customers; there is nothing wrong with the electric grid and it will function as it always does during the warmer temperatures.
We are asking that you lower your electricity usage during the peak period from 4pm – 6pm on Wednesday, July 1. Lansdale Electric Superintendent Andy Krauss said, “There’s plenty of power available and the grid is in good shape, but if we can conserve energy during these peak hours, Lansdale can save on transmission costs in the coming year. Lowering the peak demand will help keep Lansdale’s electricity rates low.”
Borough Manager John J. Ernst further stated, “As a municipal electric system, owned by its citizens and customers, it is contingent upon those same citizens and customers to keep the electric rates for themselves and all other customers of Lansdale Electric as low as possible. Our citizens and customers have the opportunity to make a difference in their system and their rates by conserving energy during the periods stated for the upcoming days. As forecast dictates, we will most likely be asking our citizens and customers to again conserve energy at additional times this summer.”
