What nobody tells you about the first 90 days of building your brand on Facebook.

It's going to feel pointless.

You're going to post something you're genuinely proud of and get 2 likes — both from people who already know you.

You're going to write a caption that took you 30 minutes and watch it reach 14 people.

You're going to wonder if anyone is actually watching.

Here's what they don't tell you: in the first 90 days, the point isn't reach. The point is proof.

Proof to the algorithm that you're consistent.
Proof to yourself that you can do this.
Proof to the people quietly watching that you're the real deal.

Because some of them are watching. They're just not commenting yet.

The agent who gets the referral isn't always the one with the most followers. It's the one who was still posting when everyone else quit.

You're at day 60. Don't quit at day 89.

The #1 objection agents have about social media: "I don't have time."

So let's be honest — how long does it actually take you to post?

Comment the letter:

A) I don't post at all
B) 30+ minutes per post — it stresses me out
C) 10–15 minutes when I'm consistent
D) I batch it — done in under an hour for the week

She was posting 3–4 times a week. All listings.

Professional photos. Good captions. Consistent. And getting almost zero engagement.

So she tried an experiment: for 30 days, no listing posts. Only personal content, her take on the market, a story from a showing, a question to her audience, a behind-the-scenes moment from her week.

Week 1: nothing changed.
Week 2: two old contacts reached out "just to check in."
Week 3: a comment from someone she hadn't spoken to in 3 years: "I didn't know you were in real estate. We're actually looking to buy."
Week 4: one referral from a former client who said, "I saw you've been really active lately and recommended you to my sister."

She didn't go viral. She didn't get 1,000 new followers.

She got 1 real lead and 1 referral in 30 days, from an audience of 400 friends.

That's what consistent personal content does. It keeps you top of mind with people who already know you.

Would you try this experiment? Why or why not?

Most agent captions sound like they were written by a committee.

"Thrilled to announce..."
"Excited to share..."
"As a dedicated real estate professional..."

Nobody talks like that. So why write like it?

Here's the fix, before you write anything, ask yourself: "How would I tell this story to a friend at dinner?"

That version is your caption.

❌ Press release: "Pleased to present this stunning 4-bedroom property in a prime location."
✅ Dinner conversation: "My clients cried when they got the keys. They'd been looking for two years and almost gave up. This house wasn't even on their list."

Same house. Completely different reaction from the reader.

Your personality is not a liability. It's the whole point.

What's one word you'd use to describe your posting style right now?

5 Facebook post ideas for agents that have nothing to do with listings.

1. The neighborhood you know better than anyone.
What makes it worth living in — not just worth buying in.
2. The question you get asked at every showing.
Answer it publicly before they even have to ask.
3. A mistake you made early in your career.
What you'd do differently now. Agents respect honesty more than perfection.
4. Your honest take on the current market.
Not the press release version, your actual read on what buyers and sellers are experiencing right now.
5. Why you got into real estate.
The real reason. Not the one on your bio.

Save this. Use one idea this week. Which one are you trying first?

D) Still figuring it out

No wrong answer. We're building next month's content around where agents actually are, not where the gurus say they should be.

We're going to be real with you.

Two months of consistent content, 12 posts, multiple formats, real value, and the reach is still near zero. Not because the content is bad. Because of something nobody talks about when they tell you to "just start posting."

Facebook's algorithm doesn't show your posts to new people until you already have an audience. It's circular: you need followers to get reach, but you need reach to get followers.

So what actually breaks the loop?

Not better content. Distribution.

This month we're doing things differently:
→ Every post gets shared from a personal profile on publish day
→ We're showing up in real estate Facebook groups, not with links, but with real conversations
→ Every person who comments gets an invite to follow the page
→ One post per week gets a small boost to reach 500–1,000 cold agents

The content was never the problem. The plan for getting it seen was.

What's the biggest distribution challenge you face with your page?
