This will probably save you two years as a creator.

If you've been posting for six+ months and it isn't working.

Before the agency I ran a tech YouTube channel. Six months in: 500 subscribers and about $200. Two years in, I finally understood the three things keeping me stuck.

I over-researched. Details matter, but 80% of short form is storytelling. I over-produced. Nobody cares how perfect it is; if it's only information they scroll. And I did everything myself.

One topic, one idea at a time. Then delegate the editing and the strategy.

You know what you're talking about, but your AI is silently killing your credibility.

Your content plan, your script, and your captions all suck because you don't know how to use AI.

Seven fixes. Tell Claude to drop the em dashes and the clipped little sentences, because nothing reads more like a robot. Tell it to push back on you instead of agreeing with everything. Log context constantly so it actually knows your business. Make it write your words verbatim from your own brain dumps. Teach it your style off your existing content. Use voice typing, because you talk faster than you type.

Follow if you want more founder-focused content.

You're probably sitting on years of stories, lessons, failures, and insights, but probably not using any of it. That could be one of the biggest missed opportunities for your personal brand.

5 pivots, one truth

I've changed my business niche five times over the years, starting with gyms, moving to realtors, trying to serve everyone, focusing on YouTube alone, and eventually adding short form into the mix. Each pivot used to feel like a step backward, but it taught me something that applies directly to personal branding too: you don't need to commit to one persona or topic before you've actually grown into it, because someone else out there can always build just as strong a brand around that same subject. The one thing they can't replicate is you.

That's why my approach isn't built around a course or a formula to copy, it's simply helping founders grow their personal brand while documenting the process honestly, wins and all.

So if you've been stuck trying to pick the "right" niche, give yourself permission to explore first and let the focus come naturally instead of forcing it too soon.

Why do founders burn out?

A lot of founders try to build their own personal brand from scratch, learning editing, strategy, thumbnails, and posting all at once, and it usually eats the time they need for actually running the business.

The better approach, borrowed from Dan Martell's 10-80-10 model, is simple: you handle the input at the start, a team handles the heavy lifting in the middle, and you only step back in to review the final result. You still keep control of quality, you just stop carrying all of it yourself. I'm building my own brand this same way while working with founders on theirs, documenting the whole process as I go.

I lost a $5,000/month client this week, and I took responsibility for it. We had a high-ticket founder ready to go and everything was lined up, so I thought his experience would solve my problems. and handed it off to a freelancer I hadn't worked with in two years. He'd worked with massive YouTubers, though, so I figured we were good.
Turns out he subcontracted it out without telling me, and the night it was due, his guy quit on him. He had nothing to give me, and just like that, I lost the client.

I could've been mad, and honestly was for a minute. But when I sat with it, I realized the real problem wasn't picking the wrong guy. I stopped paying attention because his resume looked good.

If you're a business owner trying to make your own content, watch this.

I used to think I just needed to push harder. Turns out, forcing it rarely works.

Today I tried to record 7 short form videos in one hour. It took me over an hour just to finish one. I even hyped myself up with music beforehand, didn't help.

Here's what actually worked: I left. Changed the environment. Ran a small errand for friends, and just like that, the content started flowing again by the pool.

If creating content feels impossible today, don't assume you've lost your discipline. Sometimes you just need a new environment.

Next time you hit a wall, don't quit on the content. Just change where you're standing when you make it.

It's easy to beat yourself up when you mess up, but sometimes you just need to forgive yourself. You did your best with what you had. Pick yourself back up and keep going. Check out the full-length video on my YouTube channel,

I'll be blunt: your ego is a bigger threat to your career than AI is.

In 6 to 12 months, AI will research, write, and edit generic content faster than you and your whole team. The stuff that survives is the stuff AI can't fake: your actual story, your real listings, the phone call where the seller cried about their grandchildren. Screenshots from your CRM. The scenarios nobody else has.

Stop making content AI can make better. Make the content only you can make.

Here's how I accomplished more by working less...

A surf instructor in Costa Rica taught me something the locals have baked into their DNA: Pura Vida. Work hard, then actually step back and breathe.

Eight-year-olds were out-surfing me. My brother was cruising. I finally stopped forcing it, sat on my board and breathed, and caught every wave after that (sorry Jordyn).

Same lesson for content: you don't have to clip yourself every five milliseconds and post five times a day. Sometimes you just talk, honestly, unedited. Like this.
