Facebook has launched an algorithm control option that will let users tell the system what they want to see in the app using plain language.

The feature builds on Facebook’s existing Your Algorithm control option, and enables users to either add or remove specific topics from what the system thinks they’re interested in. Users can also tell the algorithm what they like via the tool’s new chatbot prompt. As shown in the image below, Meta’s system will refine its algorithmic system based on this user-provided guidance.

Facebook said that the updated option will be available in both the main feed and in Reels, and the system will respond immediately to any changes. Very interesting!

Up until now, Threads has been attached to Instagram, and advertisers were therefore required to maintain their IG identity on Threads to launch ads. But with Threads becoming a significant consideration in its own right, Meta has now updated this element.

Meta is changing its Threads ad creation process so that advertisers will no longer need to have a matching username on both Threads and Instagram to run promotions. Advertisers who don’t have an Instagram presence will also now be able to launch ads on Threads.

This will enable advertisers to focus their campaigns on Threads specifically. With the app now up to 500 million users, it has indeed become a valuable ad display consideration, with reach to an entirely different audience than IG.
