Riddle me this . . .
What do a 400-year-old Burr Oak tree in Columbia, Missouri, a few friendly ghosts, a little boy and his dog, and a fabulously colorful owl all have in common?
They’ve all found their way into my latest children’s book illustration project!
This charming story was written by Peggy Freeman, who was inspired after taking her grandchildren to visit the historic McBaine Burr Oak tree in Columbia, Missouri. Her oldest grandchild, Thomas, loved the Halloween tale and even helped Peggy create the ending of the book. Naturally, I took that as a personal challenge to pack in as much magic, detail, and whimsy as humanly possible.
Let’s just say . . . no leaf, owl feather, or ghostly swirl was left un-illustrated.
Feeling grateful to bring such a sweet story to life.
