A little behind the scenes from day one of a Christmas campaign I’m creating for the Lutheran Church in Southern IL. 🎬🎄

It’s a story about loss, memory and finding your way home—based on something that really happened.

We also filmed it in September, in 95-degree heat. Thanks to a little AI movie magic, you’d never know it. ❄️

Pretty exciting news: a video I created for Good Shepherd has been nominated for a Mid-America Regional Emmy® Award in the Religion category.

The goal was to create a welcome video for the church website that people could genuinely see themselves in — something warm, relatable, and true to the people, community, and faith they would find at Good Shepherd.

It’s incredibly rewarding to see that story recognized in this way. Here's a 30-second snippet from the video.

Leadership is easy to talk about. The challenge is showing what it actually looks like.

I’m currently producing a film for Brinkmann Constructors featuring executives who started in entry-level roles and grew into leaders who are now shaping the next generation of Project Directors.

The film will be shown at Brinkmann’s PD Summit in Park City, Utah.

For 24Frames, the work goes well beyond making the interviews look and sound good. We’re planning the supporting footage around what these leaders are actually saying—how they communicate, solve problems, mentor others and lead teams.

🎥 The interview gives us the message.

But that’s maybe 20% of the finished film.

The other 80% is purposeful footage that shows the audience what those words mean.

That’s where pre-production and strategic storytelling make the difference. We’re not simply documenting what someone says. We’re building the visuals around the message so the story has more impact when it reaches the room.

A good recruiting video shouldn’t just look good. It should make a student think, “I could see myself here.”

As I prepare for another project with Metro East Lutheran High School, I went back and watched this video we created for them — and I was reminded just how much went into it. This is just the intro and outro (20-30 seconds each).

We filmed over the course of five months, capturing everything from staged classroom scenes after school to athletics, student life and the moments that make the school feel active and connected.

The challenge was interesting:

How do you show the personal feel of a smaller school while also showing that students have plenty of opportunities to get involved?

That question shaped the entire production.

Before I shoot a project, I’m always trying to get inside the mind of the person watching it.

What would make me want to attend this school?

What would make me trust this company?

What would make me support this organization?

That’s why pre-production matters so much.

The result for Metro East Lutheran wasn’t just a recruiting video. It became a piece they could use on their website, at events and banquets, across social media, and as the foundation for shorter advertising.

And it still lives on their website today.

That’s the value of building a strong library of real footage.

You can recut it. Repackage it. Advertise with it. Bring it back years later.

AI can generate an image. A photograph can capture a moment. But neither can recreate five months of real students, real activities and the actual culture of a school.

That has to be captured.

Most of the decisions that shape a film happen before the cameras ever come out.

For the Southern Illinois District’s Christmas campaign, pre-production gave me a chance to experience the film from the audience’s point of view. I could study the pacing, strengthen the emotional turns and decide what every future shot needed to accomplish.

This BTS edit shows the part of filmmaking clients rarely see—the work that turns a creative concept into a clear plan for production.

It gives us more than a great idea. It gives the campaign a stronger chance of holding attention, building emotion and reaching the people it was created for.

Active construction sites are full of movement, materials, equipment, and people working in every direction.

My job is to find the moments that show the skill behind the work—the craftsmanship, coordination, problem-solving, and details that can easily get lost in a busy environment. With the right angle, timing, and composition, even an unfinished space can feel strong and beautiful. 📸

These images for Tarlton were captured at their office, the Forest Park Forever improvement project, and several downtown St. Louis locations.

Together, they give Tarlton a library of authentic images they can use across social media, recruiting, proposals, and future marketing.

Your brand should reflect the quality of your work.

For Dazzle Home Staging, we used intentional cinematic choices—filming through doorways, using low angles to emphasize texture, and slowly revealing each space.

We also placed the owner’s interview inside the finished home, allowing the architecture, furniture, and décor to reinforce her message visually.

Behind-the-scenes moments showed the team planning layouts and moving furniture, giving potential clients a clear picture of both the process and the finished result.

The goal wasn’t just to make the spaces look beautiful.

It was to create a strategic story that reflected the care behind Dazzle’s work and built trust in the people behind it.
