The Winter palette is cool, clear, bright and high-contrast value - and the neutrals for this palette are no exception.

From crisp clear white, to silvers and grays, bold navy, and black…these are the hardest working colors in the Winter palette because they Go. With. Everything!

When a Winter gets dressed, ideally they choose one light, one dark, and one bright color. This combination highlights the high-contrast nature of the colors and elevates your look.

Video 3 of 4 in this series - learning about the Summer neutrals! ☀️

The Summer palette is cool, soft and smoky.

The gorgrous neutrals feature a blended french navy, soft white, rosy cool-toned browns, and blue-grays.

When Summers get dressed, they can think of a Monet painting - beautifully blended, soft colors - and ideally try to create the same vibe in their outfit! Pairing 3-7 colors or more really creates interest and brings the outfit to life. Jewelry and accessories count here, too 😉

The Spring palette is warm, clear and bright - and the neutrals follow suit.

From bright navy, to cream, to beautiful browns and warm grays…they are the hardest working colors in the palette because they Go. With. Everything!

And they can be especially impactful when you pair two neutrals and a pop of color (the “outfit formula” for Springs!) to really highlight all the other gorgeous bright colors in the palette.

Every palette has its best neutrals - which are your best tones of navy, white, gray and beige. But it doesn’t end there! Each palette has a few neutrals that might surprise you.

They are the hardest working colors in your palette because they Go. With. Everything!

And because of that, they are a great place to start when you begin replacing items in your wardrobe after your Color Analysis. Finding your favorite sweater or pair of pants in one of your best neutrals will mean mix and match magic with the rest of your wardrobe.

AI can be helpful for some things, but Color Analysis isn’t one of them. 🚫

So many of my clients have come in recently sharing that they have uploaded a few photos into their AI tool and asked it to tell them their season. And no judgement - I get it! Seems like it could be an easy solution, and save you some money.

But ALL of them share that they end up more confused than when they started.

In my client Karen’s case, AI told her she was an Autumn - so she bought a few gold jewelry pieces and a few tops in warm, rich colors. But something felt “off” to her. Her whole life, she had always felt like silver looked great on her.

And she was right. ✅

After taking her through the very thorough draping process developed by House of Colour, we discovered that the cool, high-contrast colors of the Winter palette really brighten her up! Her skin looks fresh and glowy, her eyes sparkle, her smile brightens, even her hair looks more rich in color. And you guessed it: silver is her best metal.

Red, white, and blue…but make it yours ✨

Because color is how I see the world, I can’t help but notice how beautifully red, white and blue show up differently on every person!

A Winter’s crisp navy is totally different from Autumn’s earthy, blended version. A Spring’s bright, warm red is different from a Summer’s cool burgundy.

One of my favorite things about color analysis is teaching others that there’s never just one version of a color, and then helping them discover the version that honors them. There’s something so beautifully human and empowering in that sentiment❤️
