Acting Career Breakthrough and Major Films
Starting out early, Jolie appeared next to her dad in Lookin’ to Get Out back in 1982. Things shifted during the mid-90s when work started coming more steadily.
Back in the nineties, her star began to climb through roles that stuck with people. Not long after Hackers lit up screens in 1995, she stepped into heavier territory. A turn in the TV film George Wallace brought quiet intensity - this one earned her a Golden Globe. Then came Gia, an HBO movie from 1998 where she played model Gia Carangi; again, awards followed. Each role peeled back another layer of what she could do.
Award in hand by nineteen ninety nine after stepping into Lisa Rowe’s shoes in Girl, Interrupted - she took home the little gold statue for supporting actress that year. It came right on time.
Early fame struck when she took on the role of Lara Croft in Tomb Raider back in 2001, doing countless stunts herself. That path continued with another go at the character years later. Moving into different roles, she appeared alongside others in a spy story about a married couple released in 2005. By 2010, one film cast her as a covert operative dodging suspicion; another dropped her into a mysterious European getaway full of twists. Then came a turn as a dark fairy tale figure for Disney, starting in 2014 - returning later to revisit that shadowed world once more.
Later on, Angelina Jolie stepped into roles such as Changeling in 2008 and Thena in The Eternals by 2021, shifting toward deeper performances while also moving behind the camera. Her path turned toward directing with In the Land of Blood and Honey released in 2011, followed by Unbroken years later in 2014, then First They Killed My Father arriving in 2017.
