Living in Surprise, AZ… IYKYK. 😂🌵

At some point, 78° becomes sweater weather, the shady parking spot is ALWAYS worth the extra walk, and anything east of the 101 starts requiring some serious consideration.

But somehow? You wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. 🤍

Surprise has changed A LOT over the years, but there’s just something about living in the West Valley that feels like home.

Closing day may feel like the finish line—but it’s really the beginning of homeownership. Save this list for the week you get the keys:

1. Make it yours right away—change the locks, garage codes, and alarm codes
2. Get to know your home—locate the water, gas, and electrical shut-offs
3. Introduce yourself to the neighbors 👋
4. Build your trusted vendor list early—a great handyman can be a lifesaver
5. Save your receipts, warranties, and home-improvement records

Not everyone knows this about me, but… we’re a cat family 🐾

These four have quietly been part of our everyday rhythm for years—Angelica and Sedona holding down the “wise girls” role at 11, and the brothers, Pencil and Popcorn, bringing the personality (and a little chaos) to the mix.

This little AI piece felt like the sweetest way to capture them all together… especially today.

Popcorn—the one with the galaxy eye—is heading into surgery. He’s been blind since he was a kitten, but today he’ll lose his last bit of light perception. It’s heavy, if I’m being honest. But it’s also the right step to give him comfort and a better quality of life moving forward.

If you’ve ever loved a pet, you know… they’re never “just animals.” They become part of your story, your home, your heart.

I’ll be sharing a bit of today’s journey in my stories—before and after. Some of it may feel real and a little raw, so just a gentle heads up there.

For now, we’re soaking up the snuggles, saying a few extra prayers, and trusting that this next chapter will be a good one for our sweet boy 🤍

Twenty years ago, I became a mom… and I was just 20 myself.

We grew up together, you and me.

There were seasons where it was just us—figuring life out one day at a time, learning strength, resilience, and what unconditional love really looks like. I didn’t have it all together (far from it), but I had you… and somehow that was always enough to keep me going.

Watching you now, independent, steady, navigating real life with courage and character…feels like standing on the other side of a story I once prayed we’d make it through. And you did more than make it through… you’ve built something of your own.

You’ve handled hard things. You’ve grown through situations that could have broken you. And you continue to show up with a quiet strength that makes me so incredibly proud to call you my son.

One of the greatest gifts in my life has been watching your world expand beyond me… while still knowing the kind of heart you carry with you everywhere you go.

You’ve also given me something I didn’t even know to dream about, watching you as a big brother in a whole new way. Time and distance have created space for something really special. The way Karrington chooses you now…the lunches, the time together, the friendship you’ve built, it means more to me than I can put into words. And the way Beckett lights up when you walk through the door… the way you show up for him now… it’s something he’ll carry with him forever.

Half my life, I’ve been your mom.
And every single year, it becomes more of an honor.

Happy 20th birthday, Christopher.
There will never be a version of this world where I’m not endlessly proud of you.
