Creating content for clients doesn’t stress me out. It’s one of my favorite ways to flex my creative muscles.

But I notice that when I start experiencing claw hand, face is constantly in my phone, and I start overthinking every strategy and next step, that it’s time for a break.

And somehow this beach vacation comes at the perfect time every year so I can rest, reset, and get back to my creative outlet- which is helping your share your story and your business with others.

My dad retired as a small business owner and entrepreneur. And this is a photo of us that I recently rediscovered, working together in 2011 on one of my first ever social media projects.

As a graphic and web designer, he owned a company called Slice-works. They had a contract with the DOL Women’s Bureau in DC. Being the “young millennial” on the team, it became my job to craft a number of daily and weekly Tweets for the the women’s bureau!

The best part - it was honestly so kick ass to meet so many strong incredible women at the women’s bureau, learn about their dedication to working women, equity in the workforce and see all the ways they kept doors open for working women.

This was also during the time when Facebook, Twitter and blogging were the kings of content for social media marketing.
Businesses were just starting to figure things out and I’ll never forget the amount of time I could spend writing the right kind of tweet or excitement at being retweeted or increasing Klout score?!!! Remember that?!!! Early days analytics were wild.

Dad, I know I’m doing this work because you showed me relationship building, connection, and stepping into the right rooms is possible. Thank you for laying groundwork I didn’t even realize would come full circle at the time! Happy Father’s Day! 🫶❤️
