The Woman’s Club of Rock Hill is hosting their 1st Derby Day party!

Save the date for May 4, 2024 from 4pm - 8am

This event is held at their newly renovated historic home in Rock Hill in Historic Rock Hill.

Tickets are $65 per person and include:
🏇Heavy Hors d'oeuvres
🏇Churchill Downs Original Mint Juleps and Oak Lilies
🏇Kentucky Derby races projected on big screens
🏇Contests: bowtie and hat contest
🏇Silent Auctions
🏇🏇50/50 and more
🏇Cornhole, croquet, and horseshoes

Events include: bowtie contest, hat contest, croquet, co****le, 50/50 drawings, and silent auctions.

On this special day, let's take a moment to celebrate the hardworking individuals who have shaped our nation's progress and continue to do so today. 🇺🇸

📜 Brief History of Labor Day:
Labor Day, observed on the first Monday of September, has a rich history dating back to the late 19th century. It all began during the height of the Industrial Revolution when workers faced grueling 12-hour workdays, dangerous conditions, and minimal rights.

In 1882, the Central Labor Union and the Knights of Labor organized a massive parade in New York City to demand better working conditions and fair wages. This event marked the unofficial start of Labor Day, and it quickly gained momentum.

In 1894, Congress passed a bill making Labor Day a federal holiday, a day to honor the contributions and achievements of American workers. It also symbolizes the end of summer and a time for well-deserved rest and relaxation.
