🏖️ Florida is Calling | Panama City Beach

Panama City Beach (PCB) was transformed into a tourist destination by the 1929 opening of the Hathaway Bridge, which first connected the mainland to the coast. The area later officially incorporated as a city in 1970 after a merger of several smaller beach communities.

Beyond its origins as a quiet fishing village, PCB is known for several unique historical and geographical facts:

🌞 Name Origin: The name was originally coined in 1906 by developer George Mortimer West. He noticed the town was on a direct line between Chicago and the Panama Canal, and it was also the closest US mainland port to the canal's Caribbean entrance.

⚓️ Wreck Capital: It is frequently dubbed the "Wreck Capital of the South" due to the high volume of sunken ships and artificial reefs off its coast, including the Empire Mica, a British tanker torpedoed by a German U-boat in 1942.

🌞Ancient Origins: Before European explorers arrived, the area was populated by indigenous Creek and Choctaw tribes. Archaeological sites like the shell middens in Oaks by the Bay Park show human presence dating back thousands of years.

⚖️ Famous Spark of Justice: Bay County and its surrounding history played a role in the U.S. legal system. The famous 1963 landmark Supreme Court case Gideon v. Wainwright—which established that states are required to provide an attorney for defendants in criminal cases—originated from a trial over a local pool hall break-in.

If you are planning a trip or live in the area, tell me what you made you pick PCB. I'd like to know.

Approximately 60% of NFL stadiums are publicly owned.

But the real story isn't who owns the stadium. It's how these venues become anchor assets that attract hotels, restaurants, retail, entertainment, and billions of dollars in surrounding development.

A stadium may host only a handful of home games each year, but the right stadium district can create economic activity 365 days a year.

Hurricane season starts June 1st and last until November 30th. But did you know that from 1953 to 1978, all storms had female names?

Beforehand, storms were numbered and only large storms were given more descriptive names, such as the “Long Island Express” or the “Great Miami” hurricane.

It wasn’t until 1979 when we had our first male hurricane named “Bob”.

CREa(c)tive Wednesday | AI Data Centers

The AI boom is creating one of the biggest land and infrastructure races we have seen in years with news outlets and social media reporting daily.

Major tech companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Meta are driving demand for massive AI-focused data centers, while private equity firms, infrastructure funds, and institutional investors help fund the billions required to build them.

Building massive AI data centers require more than just finding large pieces of land. Developers are searching for sites with access to massive power capacity, fiber connectivity, water, and the ability to move quickly through entitlements.

These new data centers are adding a new sub-category to commercial real estate - digital infrastructure.
