Kevin Waide Design Mississippi-based brand identity designer building disciplined logo systems that hold up across print, digital, and real-world use. 26+ years of experience.

Kevin Waide is a brand identity designer specializing in logo systems and visual identities for serious small businesses, musicians, and local brands who want to look as professional as they actually are. With over 26 years of real-world design experience, I don’t create one-off logos. I build cohesive brand systems designed to work across signage, print, social media, merchandise, and the real world. My work is rooted in clarity, restraint, and timeless design principles, not trends or templates. Every identity is built to be distinctive, usable, and durable. I just realized, today is a milestone for me. 27 years ago, September 10, 1999, I got my first paying job as a Graphic Designer. I have officially been a designer for half of my life.

Back in the mid to late '90s, Quiet Riot made a stop in Tupelo at the Trace Hall of Fame for a show. Of course, I had to be there. Here are Rudy Sarzo and Carlos Cavazo from that night. The s #!t eating grin on Rudy's face is because I had him sign my right arm with the intentions of having it tattooed in. My bass player/tattoo artist friend refused to tattoo it in because he loves Rudy and didn't get to see him, so my permanent autograph never materialized.

Every logo has a story.

This one started with a conversation about who Brittany McGee is as an artist, not just what style of music she plays. The goal wasn't to chase trends. It was to create an identity that feels authentic, timeless, and unmistakably hers.

Here's a look at the logo being recreated from the ground up, one shape at a time.

The finished brand system includes multiple logo lockups, a custom symbol, color palette, typography standards, and a complete style guide designed to keep the identity consistent everywhere it appears.

I've spent enough years on stage to know a band's mark has to work as hard as the band does: on a poster, on a strap, and on a merch table at 11pm. This one's for a fictional act, "Drifter Jones & Co.," built around a monogram that reads as a cowboy silhouette and a cattle brand, both at once.

From Sketch to Vector

A quick look at the vectoring process for my new personal brand logo. I always start with a detailed pencil sketch to nail the custom lettering curves and weight before moving into the software to trace and finalize the vector paths.

Built in Affinity Studio.

If you don’t know what you’re trying to say, the design won’t save it. Fonts and colors don’t fix confusion—they just dress it up. Get the message right first, then the visual choices become obvious.
