🏴What is Threads?
Threads is the new social network from Meta. Twitter Clone with a similar "Feeling" to Twitter. Here's the app description.
“Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow. Whatever it is you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things — or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world.”
🏴Top level Impressions:
Good timing on Meta's Part, considering tweet view limits and brand safety concerns on twitter, easy account set-up, easy auto-follow and importation
🏴Will Threads succeed?
The Auto-Follow and Built-in integration with Meta is huge. Literally too early to see if it's hype or will go like BeReal - which is not bad, but what good is a BeReal Marketing Strategy now?
The Account Set up is simple, with login into Instagram, importation of information and auto-follow contacts on the app to address scale concerns at launch. All in about 30 seconds.
The actual experience itself is really pared down Twitter with one uniform feed
Compare Instagram from a decade ago, to now. It's simple but that is not necessarily a bad thing. More will come.
🏴On Privacy and accounts:
Threads is very data intrusive, much like the Meta Family of apps with all of the information.
Also notable as of now, if you wish to delete your Threads account, you must delete your Instagram Account.
🏴Our takeaways for brands as of now: Set up the Account ASAP, to reserve your name/handle.
Base it off your current Twitter Strategy.
Also, we recommend jumping right into content - think evergreen tweets and tidbits of information that is just great, i.e. your top performers.
🏴At minimum, make the account, "wait and see" Monitor, explore a little... but don't abandon your networks to develop a full-scale strategy for a platform we are unsure of within the year will stay relevant, or even exist. Cautious optimism.
