Sign Details had a unique opportunity to be a part of a historic event over the past several months and what an honor it was for me (Terri Caldwell) to work alongside Designer Deb Gibson on such a historical centennial art piece! Greg and Robin Creasy had such for site to see a purpose to honor and help tell the story of St. Mary’s Hospital through a timeline, Deb was able to sketch out a design and we collaborated with her to transfer her ideas into a digital art piece spanning 80 feet of hallway space. Two things Deb insisted on was negative space and it had to have dimension! We were limited on how far we could come out from the wall itself, so we had to get creative and utilize textures, high gloss and matte finishes to achieve dimension. Greg and Robin had the monumental task of compiling the story line, and bullet points as the timeline progressed as well as giving us lots of photos to choose from to build and mold the art piece. Once all the text had been edited and the layout and design was completed it was time to start printing and making all the elements that would be attached at various levels on the wall. Cindy Rardin, Sign Details graphic installer and wrap master began her magic! She measured all the walls, sized all the art meticulously and paneled the background art to begin the printing of the wall wrap. She is simply the best and Sign Details, Inc. is so blessed to have her on our team! While she was busy printing the wall wrap, Steve Marcum our flatbed print operator began to back print the wood grain panels on acrylic and I got busy printing the metal dye sublimation elements - special thanks to Shelly Rose of Paisley Pixel for allowing me to use her oversized equipment to heat the large images onto the metal for a mesmerizing appearance.
Once the wall wrap was printed and laminated, all the elements cut, printed, drilled and trimmed it was time to install!
Little by little the wall started taking form and now shows a 100 year timeline of the story of how God used the dedicated Pallotine sisters to build St. Marys Hospital into a facility that focused on showing Gods love through love and compassion towards their patients. Please enjoy our photos!
