Put yourself in your consumers shoes.

If you were a consumer that was viewing your advertisement, would you click on it?

Not only that, after you clicked on it, would the landing page be enticing enough for you to enroll or leave your information?

Don't brush by this question. Genuinely sit and ask yourself.

The answer is probably no.

And if it is - that's probably why your not seeing the conversions you'd like.

We as consumers skip past 95% of professional grade commercials.

Why would anyone click on one that looks like it was made 10 years ago?

This may seem like an obvious solution, but you'd be surprised how many people overlook it.

3 tips to sell more roofs instantly

1. Befriend your customers.

There is a lot of uncertainty going into getting your roof replaced...

"Am I getting a fair price?"

"Will they do a good job?"

"Do I even need to get my roof replaced"?

At the end of the day, there's no way for the homeowners to really know, so they just have to trust you.

Befriending your customers and showing that your an honest, well-meaning individual will help you close a lot of those homeowners that are on the fence.

2. Educate the homeowner

Walk them through every step of the process.

Take pictures of the damages and show it to them.

Explain why you're doing what you're doing

The more your customer understands you the more they will be able to justify and rationalize spending so much money.

3. Remember - You are there to help, not there to sell.

This ties back to #1

If you come off as a "salesy" the homeowners won't believe anything your saying.

Portray yourself as someone who is there to HELP the homeowner. Guide them through the best options for their current situation.

If you come off as someone who is trying to help, not sell, you will get your foot through the door much more often.

Oversimplify your ads.

So many contractors are focused on creating the "sexiest ad" with the "sexiest offer".

They often don't realize that they're only impressing other contractors.

There has been a widespread-undiagnosed problem with all roofing contractors:

They forgot what its like to be a homeowner who knows nothing about roofing.

When it comes to building ads, that's a problem.

You need to create ads that resonate with homeowners.

Often times, the more raw and authentic you make your ad the better.

Why?

Because it looks real. It looks human.

In a world full of gimmicky ads,

A raw picture with no edits or flashy text will stick like a sore thumb.

It may sound counterintuitive... but it works.

Wondering why your home improvement business hasn't grown?

The most likely answer is because you've been relying on referrals this whole time.

You see if you want to grow your business YOU HAVE TO be in control of your lead flow.

Siting around HOPING that WOM leads will sporadically come in is no formula for success.

You need to have control of your lead flow if you want to grow.

The best way is with paid advertising.

I've had clients that have been plateaued in the roofing business for years.

They turn on advertising and within 6 months they 5X their business.

Want more leads? Want to scale the business? - Turn up ad spend

Too many leads? Happy with where you are? - Turn down ad spend

You control where your business will go.

Stop leaving it up to fate.

If your not advertising because you want to "save money" you and your business don't deserve to grow.

Struggling with what to say in your ad copy?

It's not the easiest thing. One thing to keep in mind is your goal behind the ad. It's not about tricking or misleading the homeowner into clicking the ad. It's about creating a message that will convey 3 things:

1. You offer FAIR pricing (Not the cheapest, but fair)

2. You do HONEST work

3. You can be TRUSTED

If you can craft an ad copy that will convey those 3 things. You are golden.

I NEVER run advertising for roofing that mentions anything that has to do with storms or insurance

Why?

Because homeowners often misunderstand insurance restoration.

They're scared off by misconceptions like "contractors are trying to capitalize on storms" or "filing a claim raises premiums."

All homeowners EVER care about when seeing your ad is getting a sense of TRUST, QUALITY WORK and FAIR PRICES

Do that, and your golden.

My goal?

Get you face-to-face with them, where you can address concerns and explain the process.

It is YOUR job, as the expert in the roofing field to handle any misinformed objections about storm damage and insurance.

It is MY job, as the marketer, to get you Infront of these homeowners.

Trying to handle insurance objections at the top of your lead funnel is only going to REPEL leads, not attract them.

Let's get you to their door, where you can work your magic.

Make sense?

Here's why you probably fail at Facebook ads as a roofer:

You struggle to embody the psychology of the homeowner.

You see when you are an expert in a field (roofing) you forget what its like to be a homeowner who knows nothing about roofing.

You need to stop thinking about what ads will work for your business and start thinking what ads will speak the most to the people who are meant to see the ad.

AKA The homeowners!

And I get it.

It's hard as a roofer to advertise yourself to people who know NOTHING ABOUT ROOFING

I'll give you a great example of what I'm talking about:

Storm damage and Insurance claim ads.

My clients will often come to me and tell me:

"Hey Eli, a big storm just hit our area. We should run an ad that speaks to the homeowners who were just hit by the storm"

I'll bet that the first thought that probably popped into your head is that sounds like a pretty good idea...

Well its not.

And I'll tell you why.

First reason: If a homeowners house was seriously damaged by a roof they need someone to urgently come tarp this roof or fix the water leak...

They most certainly aren't going to open Facebook start scrolling on until they find a roofer.

Think about it, would you?

They are either going to be frantically calling friends and family trying to find a referral to a contractor.

OR they are going to go on Google and search "Roofer near me"

Facebook is the last place they are going to find you.

Second reason: If a homeowner knows anything about storm damage and insurance claims, what they know is most likely WRONG

They're probably thinking that their insurance process is a nightmare and that filing a claim is going to raise their premiums.

So what ends up happening is you SCARE YOUR LEADS AWAY!

Third reason: You are going to capture storm damage leads with a normal roofing ad anyways.

Facebook will target your ad to any and all homeowners.

It doesn't matter if the homeowner needs a full replacement, a small repair or a storm damage inspection.

Your job as a marketer is to CAPTURE THE LEAD

And then find out what the best way to help them is once your actually up on the roof.

So here's quick rule a thumb on how to instantly improve your roofing ads:

Focus on building ads that resonate with homeowners.

Not with other roofing contractors.

Wondering whether to advertise on Facebook or Google?

Here's why Facebook is King

1. Cost-Efficiency: When it comes to stretching your advertising budget, Facebook ads often emerge as the frontrunner. Unlike Google Ads, where you bid for clicks, Facebook operates on a pay-for-exposure model. This means you're not just paying for clicks; you're investing in visibility. With a well-crafted ad, you can reach thousands of potential customers for a fraction of the cost compared to Google Ads.

2. Immediate Results: In the fast-paced digital landscape, every minute counts. One of the standout advantages of Facebook ads is their ability to deliver results quickly. Within days of launching your campaign, you can expect to see leads flowing in. On the flip side, Google Ads typically require a longer optimization period, often taking weeks before you start seeing meaningful results. For businesses looking to make an immediate impact, Facebook ads offer a compelling solution.

3. Audience Reach: While Google Ads excel at targeting users with immediate needs, Facebook's reach extends far beyond active searchers. With its vast user base and sophisticated targeting options, Facebook allows you to connect with potential customers at every stage of the buyer's journey. Whether they're actively searching for your services or simply browsing their newsfeed, Facebook ads enable you to cast a wider net and capture the attention of your target audience.
