Churches that offer online giving see a 32% rise in total donations.

That's not a guess, either, it's data from Vanco Payments across thousands of churches.

And the trend is only accelerating:
→ 49% of all church donations are now made online (Pushpay)
→ 45% of online donations happen on mobile devices (Nonprofit Tech for Good)
→ Digital wallet giving (Apple Pay, Google Pay) grew 120% in 2024 (Subsplash)

The shift is real. People want to give and they want to do it from their phone, on their schedule.

If your church doesn't have a simple, mobile-friendly way to give online, you're not just leaving money on the table: you're making it harder for people to be generous.

Start simple. A clear "Give" button. A mobile-friendly form. That's it.

5 things first-time visitors look for on your church website:

1. Service times and location. Visible in 2 seconds, not buried in a menu
2. What to expect on Sunday. Answer the anxiety before they ask
3. A way to watch or listen first. 80% visit your site before attending (WifiTalents)
4. Kids and youth info. Parents won't come if they don't know their kids are covered
5. A clear next step: "Plan Your Visit" should be impossible to miss

If your site is missing even one of these, you're losing visitors who were ready to show up.

The good news? These are all easy to add. Start with #1 and #5 because they make the biggest difference.

When your client calls you an absolute UNIT in an email, you post it.

"Thank you for being amazing at your job. Its refreshing."

I don't take that lightly. I am thankful for all the churches that trust us to build their digital presence!

0.05 seconds. That's how fast someone forms an opinion about your website. Faster than a blink.

And according to Forbes, 94% of those first impressions are design-related. Not content. Not features. Design.

Here's what that means for your church:

Before someone reads your mission statement, before they find your service times, before they watch a single sermon they've already decided if they trust you.

The question isn't whether your website has enough information. It's whether it looks like a place worth exploring.

Most church marketing agencies are run by marketers who serve churches. This one is run by someone still serving in ministry.

I didn't leave the ministry to start White Oak Media. I'm still in it.

New on the blog: why being in the trenches matters more than being on the outside looking in.

Most church marketing agencies are run by marketers who serve churches. This one is run by someone still serving in ministry — and that changes everything.

96% of church websites fail the first impression test.

That's not our opinion, it's from a study of 2,725 church websites by OneEighty Digital. 8 out of 10 failed more than one part.

Here's the thing: visitors decide in 5 seconds whether to stay or leave. And 75% of them judge your credibility based on design alone (Stanford Web Credibility Research).

Three things you can fix today:

1. Put service times and "Plan Your Visit" above the fold
2. Make sure your site works on a phone (63% of traffic is mobile — Statcounter)
3. Clean up the design! It doesn't need to be fancy, just intentional

Your church's website is often the first thing a visitor sees. Make sure it reflects who you actually are.

Save this for your next staff meeting.

The work you're doing matters more than metrics can measure.

Organic Facebook posts only reach 2.2% of your followers. Instagram reaches 15.3%.

That's 7x more reach on Instagram for the same amount of effort. (Source: Nonprofit Tech for Good)

If your church is spending all its social media energy on Facebook and ignoring Instagram, you're reaching a fraction of the people you could be.

Here's the move: repurpose what you're already posting on Facebook into Instagram carousels and Reels. Same content, way more eyeballs.

You don't need to be on every platform. But you should be on the one that actually reaches people.
