Discounts can hurt ... ... Bad 😱

Although discounts can have the added benefit of edging a customer towards buying, relying on it too much can kill a business 🤕

For one, overrelying on it hurts your branding. Everyone loves a good deal 🤑 But having it front and center all the time gives off an impression that you are the best when it comes to price - but that can easily be undercut by a competitor.

To secure long term positioning, you have to have other unique selling propositions to drive conversions.

Number 2 - The most direct impact is on your profit margins. Discounts can be useful for pushing revenue forwards 👍 But remember it also chews into your profits! This could mean lower quality customers who are only there for a good bargain -> 🏃‍♂️ This could give lower predictability on your lifetime value since they will hop over as soon as a cheaper alternative surfaces!

Last bit ❗️ Discounts sometimes hide underlying problems in your offer. This means that these discounts pad your conversion rates despite poor offers, copywriting, web design or products.

While some gurus will say that boosting posts has no place in serious marketing, the truth is a little more balanced.⚖️

For example, boosting can be good for getting social proof and preparing for a larger campaign!

In this case, we're looking into the 3 levels of Facebook ads and what to test at each level ❗ Every level in Facebook's campaign structure is best suited for testing to different levels of detail, so let's dive in:

1. Campaign Level - this is where different campaigns should have different objectives. And these objectives could be at any point along the sales funnel - from building awareness to warming up prospects, pushing for a conversion and even retargeting! 🎯

2. Ad Sets - A lot of action happens here. This is where you can test different audiences or choose which targeting options work best. Usually, targetting options include different interests and demographics like age group, location etc.

3. Ads - This is where we can experiment with the copywriting of captions and headlines, or try out different combinations of copywriting with creatives like images, GIFs, videos etc. to see which performs the best.
