For the 2026 ABA Annual Conference, our design challenge was clear: How do we mark 250 years of American history while recognizing the urgency of keeping the foundation of the Rule of Law strong? ABA Design shaped the brand to capture both the moment and the collective energy of our members and guests moving the profession forward.
Every design choice supported that idea. Lust, our accent typeface, brings together history and progress, with curves and contrast that create movement. The square became our foundation, representing structure and stability, balanced with organic forms and photography representing the people and voices shaping the profession.
Red became our hero color—drawn from the U.S. flag as a symbol of courage, while connecting to the history and civic identity of Chicago, our host city. It brought the national moment and our sense of place together in one very bold choice. And while static design gave the identity structure, motion gave it energy which allowed the brand to shift, connect, and move forward throughout the conference experience.
Structure and movement. History and progress. Community and purpose.
