Views from our recent shoot for See Sugar Mountain, NC 📸 Few spots capture the scale and beauty of the High Country like the Linn Cove Viaduct!

Even better news? The Blue Ridge Parkway will postpone major construction plans to remain open throughout the section between Blowing Rock and Linville this summer and fall. Thank you to Blue Ridge Parkway and National Park Service leadership, congressional and local officials and business leaders for advocating for this change in scheduling!

This is a huge win for local businesses, fall travelers, and everyone who depends on this iconic section of road being open during the busiest seasons of the year.

Our team had a great time at the Visit North Carolina Conference this week! It was an awesome opportunity to connect with industry pros and gather new info to better serve our tourism clients. Here are a few takeaways we’re excited about:

📣 Consistent messaging is key, especially post-Hurricane Helene
🧠 Lean into the weird
🎯 Build niche stories around real user personas
📊 Leisure travel is still thriving, despite economic shifts
🏞️ NC is officially the #5 most visited state in the U.S.!

Big thanks to Visit NC for an inspiring week!

At Bramble Marketing, we thrive on bringing big ideas to life—and sometimes, life throws us curveballs. This year, we partnered on a project that involved website development, social media, and strategic planning for the beloved Woolly Worm Festival. But when Hurricane Helene rolled in and the event had to be canceled, we knew we had to pivot.

Our solution? A scavenger hunt adventure that carried the excitement of the festival to new locations. With just one week until the original festival date, we developed a brand-new plan, mapped out every detail, and hit the road to bring it to life.

Though it wasn’t the project we originally envisioned, we’re incredibly proud of the teamwork, adaptability, and impact we achieved. 💡 Challenges like these remind us why we do what we do: to think on our feet and help our clients shine, no matter the circumstances.

📍 Key Takeaways:
- Website and social media prepared for the original event.
- Rapid brainstorming and ex*****on of a fresh idea.
- Engaged the community in new and meaningful ways.

Here’s to making the most of unexpected moments and turning them into something unforgettable!

Project Highlight: Avery Knife Works 🔪

When Avery Knife Works approached us, they needed updated imagery to showcase Raleigh's knife-making process from start to finish. Their goal? High-quality photos for their website, print materials, and social media promotions.

We’re excited to share that one of those images was selected as the cover of High Country Magazine! Thank you, Avery Knife Works, for trusting us to capture your craft.

Pro Tip: Investing in professional imagery isn’t just about your current needs—it’s about being ready for unexpected opportunities, like landing a cover photo 😉

URGENT UPDATE (SHARE!): National Guard delivering our food boxes to folks that haven't eaten in 4 days. PLEASE DONATE: https://feedingaveryfamilies.org/support-faf .
We have never seen devastation like this. We delivered 90 food boxes to Temple Baptist Church (Green Valley), 65 boxes to the Frank area (off 19E), and 23 boxes to families showing up today. Some of you have dropped by the building to see what’s happening. The building is great. We have power and water now – hooray!
How can you help? Our primary food source, MANNA FoodBank in Asheville, was destroyed. Working with relief agencies for help for bulk deliveries.
If you are local and can get to the FAF building, we are packing boxes at 10:00am-12:00pm or 2:00-4:00pm ET on Tuesday, October 1. We need to pack as many boxes as possible since we are now a secondary food storage site for emergency crews. The National Guard also delivered 2 trucks of food and supplies today.
• Local volunteers, BEFORE you arrive at FAF please check with your neighbors to see if you can bring them a box of food and supplies. We are helping the county track the community needs, and we will send these boxes with you.
• When you arrive, we will ask each volunteer to share your name and location. This will help us know how many volunteers we have and potentially distribute food with you and your neighborhood. Please do not just show up and start helping without checking in first. Vanessa Phillips and Sally Loftis of Feeding Avery Families will be onsite to organize and manage the process.
• Volunteer jobs (only if you live locally since many roads out) will include loading boxes onto pallets, unloading food & supplies, stocking shelves, removing trash, assembling and cutting boxes, receiving donations, and loading boxes into cars. We will provide training for volunteers at the beginning of each shift.
Current donation needs if you are nearby to drop off: water bottles (boil advisory here), manual can openers, adult diapers, diapers, baby formula, plastic utensils, and non-perishable foods such as cans with pop tops and boxed milk. Most people do not have access to power or water, so please keep that in mind when purchasing supplies. You can drop these by Feeding Avery Families when we are open. If we are not there, please deliver these to First Baptist Church in Newland.
And of course, you can donate to Feeding Avery Families via PayPal at https://feedingaveryfamilies.org/support-faf . And we will need your continued support as MANNA Food Bank in Asheville (our main food supplier) will not be available for some time. So we will have to buy food from other places with potentially higher prices.

We’ve just been able to get an internet connection to share this footage from 9/27/24, showing damage to Banner Elk, NC. These last few days have been tough for our family and community, with storm damage we haven’t seen since 1940. Our hearts are heavy and we’re all feeling the impact. Please keep Avery County and all of WNC in your prayers. We have met several families so far that have suffered total losses. Sending thank yous to the emergency responders, government officials, and volunteers who are working tirelessly to help. We will do our best to share updates as we have internet connection.
