Today is National Vietnam War Veterans Day. The war was officially over March 29, 1973, when, among other things, the last combat troops departed Vietnam. Some that served did not return.

Over 2.7 million American service men and women served in Vietnam during the Vietnam war. Over 300,000 returned physically wounded and many more have lifelong mental scars. Those who did not return number 58,281 killed in action and 1,549 who are still unaccounted for.

On the back of one of the veterans challenge coins I have been given it reads:

"A veteran is someone who wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America for an amount of up to and including their life."

I ask you on this day that you take a moment to remember all these Vietnam veterans for their service and sacrifice and remember their families as well.

FYI Went to the new Chipotle restaurant in Commerce Tuesday for the first time. Inside big banner sign for Carne Assada. Looked good with the guacamole on top. Checked the posted price and ordered. At the end of the line the server asked if we wanted guacamole. Of course we said. He said it’s $2.65 extra. I pointed out that the picture and pricing didn’t say anything about “extra”. None the less, extra. We passed. Not cool!

Go to La Hacienda. Better food. Better price. And what you see is what you get in my experience.
