Similar to my setup in the early days.... If you made a mistake or forgot something, you had to back up to that point and re-digitize again. No on-screen editing. Designs were stored on paper tapes

In this Throwback Thursday we head back to 1983 and take a look at the Wilcom Computer Embroidery Design (CED) system.

The photo shows a full PDP-11 computer with a DEC display terminal connected to a Summagraphics Digitizing Tablet.

With no mouse, the operator would start and control the system with keyboard commands only and digitize using the digitizing tablet and puck. Commands such as digitizing tools and stitch types were selected by positioning the puck on the yellow, green and blue tablet reference card, and activating the command meaning a digitizer rarely returned to their monitor once they started punching.
