Here’s another time-lapse of a recent illustration, this time of our good friend Satan! I did the bulk of the designing and posing for this guy on paper, as I try to make as few big changes as possible when I’m inking, unless inspiration strikes. You can also see here that I try to color-code different elements of a character when I’m creating the digital sketch, which keeps me from mixing up my messy initial lines.

Have you ever wondered what the inside of my sketchbook looks like? No? Never, you say? Well here you go anyway! A tour of some of the more slightly aesthetically pleasing recent pages in my book. Gaze in amazement at early drafts of some recent t-shirt and merch designs! Bask in the wonder of anatomical studies! And is that, *gasp*, Cosmo Kramer himself??? You’ll have to take a look and see for yourself!

Here’s a quick time-lapse of my recent horseman of the apocalypse character, with a little insight into my illustration process. Cobbled together from a mix of sketchbook pencil drawings and reference pictures (often using action figures and/or photos of myself to get the posing just right), this is a good idea of how I normally work! I would typically color in procreate as well, but since I was going for a more comic-inspired color pallet with this piece, I brought this into photoshop and used a set of Debaser comic book color patterns to finish it off.
