Attended an extremely important all hands (and hooves) meeting at FATE’s southern outpost this week. Strategy sessions on the FATE Farm and feeding goats with the GOAT, Phyllis Galde. Our 2027 master plan is going to upend the entire magazine industry!

While we dream of being at the this year, we’re celebrating with some unreleased, never before seen John Keel letters related to the event. The first one was sent the day after the Silver Bridge collapsed (12/16/1967) and Keel notes how the tragedy “hit home for me.” The second letter is from earlier in the year (3/9/1967) where Keel teases his work on the “sensational” MOTH MAN case that will be revealed soon. They provide an interesting glimpse into Keel during the Mothman era. We also share a copy of the rare UFO PHENOMENON zine that featured early Mothman art on the cover (the great Gene Duplantier) and a report by Mark Samwick who jumped in the whip with Timothy Green Beckley and Jim Moseley among others to meet Barker in Point Pleasant. What a road trip that must have been! Our copy had some old newspaper clippings about the MIB tucked inside and maps of the notorious TNT area. THIS IS WHY WE LUV PRINTED MEDIA! Lastly if you’re still reading this, wow. We also post a review of Keel’s Mothman Prophecies by the great ufologist Lucius Farish in 1975 where he disagrees with Keel’s conclusions about the UFO phenomenon. Since we’re an uber-elite professional media conglomerate, part of our job is to stay up-to-date on similar publications in the field. We see that TIME has entered the chat with a cover story promising to reveal “The New Case for Aliens.” It reads a LOT like the old case for aliens, complete with the same, tired military photo batting lead-off. Skeptical Inquirer’s July/August issue was full of interesting Fortean fact-finding content, including a Mick West column weighing in on those dead “UFO” scientists. The homies over at Nexus Magazine, Newsfeed, Shop NEXUS always lean more into conspiracy and politics, and this holds true in the July/August issue with pieces on the Rothschilds, Epstein, and the city of London as a secret corporation. The always enjoyable World Explorer Vol. 10, No. 9 went heavy on the Missing 411/Bigfoot angle, tying strange disappearances in the woods to possible Sasquatch attacks. Last and definitely not least is a new issue of our favorite zine about Art Bell by EkVn. This issue reprints transcripts from the Trumbull County UFO sightings. And those stickers!

Tuesday. 80 degrees. Time to head to the hideaway and read books. There are some great ones in the pile today — we didn’t know the esteemed Kevin Randle had a new book out. Plus those covers on CRYPTIDS THAT KILL and PASCAGOULA UNCOVERED are poster material! 👀 From werewolves and monsters to Krampus and killer cryptids, we’re sensing a theme here. Only the dog knows our whereabouts and she’s way too easy to bribe, so she ain’t tellin! Go enjoy what’s left of the summer and bring along one of these titles!

We can’t get that hypnotic hook out of our heads. We absolutely love our fans.

Everybody knows that a good beach read requires 2 things: a great book, and the right beach buddy to share the vibes. We were lucky to score both this afternoon. After an insightful discussion with Rebekah Carmichael about her new book (THE NOT-SO-SCARY GUIDE TO GHOSTS) we took our copy to read on the shore with our shaggy book club companion (Hazel). We enjoyed Rebekah’s perspective on ghosts as “pieces” of a soul (very poetic), but most of all we were impressed by her positive outlook on the phenomenon and message that everyone is psychic, even if they don’t know it yet. (However, we’re not sure about golden retrievers and ESP. When your dog is barking at a sailboat miles away on the horizon, it doesn’t bode well for their sixth sense.)
