REK is coming home y’all. What a show last night in New Orleans

& opened the show. Sang us some tunes, broke a few strings, and got the party started.

as expected, brought the house down. If he’d played another 10 hours we’d all still be standing right up the stage singing along with him. He’s a music legend that I’ve been lucky enough to see more times than I can count. From under a bridge in Shreveport, to a dive bar in the woods, and everywhere in between. But my most favorite place to hear him sing is when I’m hanging out with my daddy. When I was in middle school he came home from a boys weekend with a new CD in his truck. It was the #2 Live Dinner album and I was immediately hooked. Including memorizing every word to The Road Intro that now some 26 years later still lives rent free in my brain. REK has such an impressive array of discography with so many great singalong crowd pleasers. But my most favorite song is If I Were King.

He’s done touring after 41 years in just a few weeks. If you have a chance, go see him.
