So, How do we go about re-creating the football laces?

Step 1 3D scan it...
Scans are very helpful but to be honest the surface finish from a scan and being able to print a part directly from a scan without re-modeling some or all of it is difficult. For the best results it's better to re-model it. That way you can make ajustments as needed because modifying a mesh from a scan is not fun and you can run into issues.

Step 2
With the help of the scan and my modeling software I can tell that the curve is roughly 2 inches over a length of 6.5 inches with a total length of approx 13 inches. Creating 3 points on a plane I can re-create the curve. From there I can extrude the center mass of the laces that run along the toy chest. if you look at the images you'll see an indentation in the center laces. Using some digital calipers I can determine that the indentation is about 4mm wide and 2.5mm in depth. To Re-create the lace indentation we create an offset face using the curve in 2.5mm. Then measure the laces on the actual part and then on our extruded part to determine the center. From the center we symmetrically extrude that offset face 2mm. This creates the 4mm wide indentation at the center of the extruded width as shown.

Finally finished the Prusa XL enclosure. It printed so well I wasn’t really concerned with it at first. But a customer with some higher temp needs was the deciding factor. Now both of the bigger printers are back up and running 😁

I know I’ve been kind of a ghost for a while. I missed you guys and gals. Of course I never stop, I may get down on myself from time to time, but never quit.

Wrestled this monster on its side to fix corrupted Klipper Firmware 🙄. I should build my own so I can make the mainboard into a pull out drawer for service.

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have been sitting on some news for a while as we're still trying to get things spun up and moving. But here we go:

Madboxx Designs as a business entity will be going away (at least for now in the near future). This is because we've entered into a business partnership with another highly driven individual and we're taking larger steps to not only make our mark on the 3D printing community but other industries as well.

Our new partner is a service-disabled veteran who plays in an extremely specific sandbox. This sandbox is like things you're seeing/ hearing about in the news lately. He has the credentials and background to make this business venture extremely beneficial to all of us. Which means Madboxx LLC is being acquired by our new venture called: CIE Strategies

We're still finalizing the name and that may change, but for right now have much of our info on https://www.pre-exp.tech/ . All of our equipment, inventory, and hardware will transition to this new business fairly quickly.

As many of you know it's been a dream of mine to find that one product/ opportunity that would allow me to take better care of my wife and myself by being able to move into 3D printing/ designing full time. And we feel that this move is an easy decision. With the turmoil that's going on in the federal government being a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) in the commercial and federal contracting space is going to present us with many opportunities that would not normally be available.

Our business focus at this time is going to be on providing excellent customer service to our already existing contracts, developing and testing new product releases, refining and honing our existing products and skills to meet and beat market expectations. Our recent product developments are in the fields of drug/ explosive K9 training aids. But we are working our way into other sectors such as strategic, tactical, and technical assistance aides such as alerting devices, drone based monitoring/ payload operations, as well as providing training and business support for LEA and FLEA agencies when it comes to new technologies, how to identify the technology used to make improvised devices and how to quickly recognize it.

For those of you with existing projects we're working on. Nothing will really change other than the name and where payments will go to. But I will be sure to relay those changes as they happen. This is still very fluid and changing daily. But we hope you will embark on this road with us, continue to support us, and we will certainly do everything we can to continue to support your needs with projects big and small.

We love you all and could not have done this without everyone's support.

When you and your wife have gotten into Japanese animation (anime). You really love the characters and stories because they are very different than anything in the US. Of course your husband nerds out takes one of your favorite characters, 3D prints a base, makes an acrylic cut out and embeds a message in Japanese with a QR code to read the conversion in English. 😁
