Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Tracy Schulz, John Cahill, Ethan Koslosky and Jacob Ornduff of the Kent Island VFD, also Kelly Payne, Krista Williams, John Barrett and MS Lt. Pam Wise of the Queen Annes County Dept. of Emergency Services. These men and women responded to my home in Chester on Tuesday April 14th under dire circumstances. If not for their prompt and professional response the outcome of my wife’s call would not been as positive for me as it turned out. Residents of Kent Island and all of Queen Annes County, when you receive a request for a donation for the KIVFD or have a chance to buy a raffle ticket at the carnival, please do not hesitate to do so. I know I won’t. When you do need them as I did, you’ll be glad you donated. These men and women are truly out there every day saving lives and believe me they are very good at what they do. Because of their knowledge and experience Kent Island is a better, safer place to live. Thank you again guy’s and girls! Keep up the great work."

Our Door is Always Open: Meet Donna and Jessie Poole, owners of Arcadia Assisted Living of Chester

Welcome… and come on in and meet Donna Poole (left) and her daughter Jessie (right), owners of the Arcadia Living. What began in 2006 as a licensed assisted living facility in Donna’s home has grown to seven locations and has been Maryland’s premier assisted living facility for 20 consecutive years. Donna also has taken on a volunteer role as a community educator and legislative advocate at state and federal levels speaking about the impacts of Alzheimer’s and the importance of continued funding for research and treatments.
