Queen Anne’s County Mourns the Loss of Longtime County Attorney Patrick Thompson

It is with great sadness that Queen Anne’s County shares the passing of longtime County Attorney Patrick “Pat” Thompson.

Pat’s service to Queen Anne’s County spanned more than four decades. He was appointed County Attorney in 1980 and became a foundational part of Queen Anne’s County Government, providing trusted legal guidance and invaluable institutional knowledge through years of change and important decisions.

Throughout his tenure, Pat worked closely with County Commissioners, administrators and staff, offering steady counsel on countless matters affecting Queen Anne’s County and the community he called home.

In November 2024, after serving the county as a contracted attorney while maintaining his private law practice, Pat closed his practice and became a full-time Queen Anne’s County employee, allowing him to dedicate his attention to the county’s legal needs. At the time, County Administrator Todd Mohn described Pat’s legal expertise and commitment to the community as instrumental in shaping Queen Anne’s County.

For those who had the privilege of working with Pat, his loss is more than the loss of a longtime County Attorney. He was a colleague, trusted advisor and friend whose knowledge of Queen Anne’s County and its history was built over a lifetime of living and working in the community he served.

The County Commissioners and employees of Queen Anne’s County extend their deepest condolences to Pat’s wife, Pam, his children, family, friends and all those who knew and worked alongside him. His legacy of service to Queen Anne’s County will not be forgotten.

Tell us what you do for a living. I am an Audiologist.

Describe your accomplishments/honors that you believe led to your nomination. I graduated with my Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) in May, 2023. After earning my degree, I began my career at Chesapeake Hearing Centers where I have been recognized as both a Provider of Distinction and an Elite provider. These recognitions signify my dedication to helping many patients treat their hearing loss.

Describe your community involvement... how have you made a difference in our community? I have helped hundreds of patients hear better through treatment of their hearing loss, which in turn will help them better be involved with their family, friends, and their community....
