This past year has taught us that life is full of ebbs and flows…
That life is precious, fragile, and meant to be lived fully.
That as entrepreneurs and business owners, sometimes we have to say no to the new project, postpone the plans, step away from the emails, and put family first.
Almost a year ago, our world changed forever.
What started as unexplained exhaustion and weight loss quickly turned into something far more serious for our family. Within weeks, we found ourselves sitting in an oncologist’s office hearing the words no family is ever truly prepared for… Natalie’s husband was diagnosed with a rare, incurable blood cancer called Myelofibrosis.
Since then, life has been a whirlwind of fear, hope, exhaustion, uncertainty, and resilience… all while continuing to run a business and give our clients 100%.
Today, we are grateful to share that Sean is now Day +87 post-bone marrow transplant. Natalie’s 18-year-old son became his father’s stem cell donor…something that still leaves us emotional every time we think about it.
The journey has been incredibly hard.
Since January, Natalie stepped into the role of Sean’s full-time caregiver as they traveled back and forth to Johns Hopkins daily. Sean has endured daily chemotherapy, full-body radiation, countless blood and platelet transfusions (more than we can count), magnesium, iron and potassium infusions, endless medications, nausea, GI complications, heart palpitations, lung, kidney, and thyroid issues… more challenges than we can possibly put into words.
And through it all, he has faced every moment with quiet strength and courage, never once complaining.
At the same time, Nicole quietly carried the weight of the business forward, making sure our clients continued to receive the same level of service and care as always. Many clients and vendors never even realized the nightmare our family was navigating behind the scenes.
That’s just how we are built… we push through, we show up, and we get the work done.
But this experience has reminded us of something far more important than deadlines, meetings, or business growth…
Family is everything.
So today, this is your reminder:
-Go hug the people you love.
-Call your parents.
-Sit a little longer at the dinner table.
-Make the memories.
-Take the photos.
-Say “I love you” more often.
Because life can change in an instant, and at the end of the day, family is what truly matters most.
