I talk a lot about proactive website support versus reactive emergency fixes.
But what does "proactive" actually look like on a Wednesday morning?
Here's the 15-minute monthly check I recommend to every client.
Fifteen minutes, once a month.
Most of the website emergencies I get called in to fix could have been caught in step two or three.
Save this. Put it in your calendar for the first Monday of every month. Your future self will thank you.

The best marketing insight I got recently had nothing to do with marketing.

At the recent Women in Business Council Women in Business panel, the conversation kept coming back to how we lead — not just what we sell or build or manage.

💡 A nonprofit I work with needed to refresh its homepage copy.

They knew it wasn't working — but every time we sat down to rewrite it, we'd get stuck going back and forth about which version was better.

I used Claude AI to generate five opening lines tailored to their mission and audience. We went around the table, and everyone immediately agreed on one.

That one AI-generated option became the basis for a full homepage rewrite. We finished in one session instead of four.

The AI didn't write the page. But it broke the logjam. Sometimes that's the whole job.

Let's talk about AI tools — because I've been using them daily in my client work, and the results are genuinely surprising.

Not in a hype-y, replace-all-humans way. In a "I just saved three hours on this project" way.

Here's what's actually useful for small business owners right now:
→ Drafting email responses and newsletter content faster → Summarizing long documents (contracts, reports, intake forms) → Generating social caption options when your brain is empty → Creating first drafts of website copy to react to
The tools I use most: ChatGPT, Claude, and Canva AI. Each one has a different strength.

🤔 HOW DO YOU KNOW WHO TO CALL WHEN YOUR WEBSITE BREAKS?

I recently wrote an article about choosing technical support, and I kept coming back to this:

Most small businesses don't have a "website person" until they desperately need one.

Then they're Googling in a panic, trying to figure out:
• Is this person legitimate?
• Can they actually fix this?
• Am I going to get gouged on emergency pricing?
• Will they disappear after they "fix" it?

Hot take: You shouldn't meet your technical support person during an emergency.

The best time to find a reliable tech partner is when everything is working. Because:
✅ You can evaluate them without panic
✅ They can set up preventive systems
✅ You'll have someone to call BEFORE things break
✅ No emergency pricing surprises
