Five years ago in June I started sharing my cancer story with the world.

Jenny Gold invited me to share my story on her show.

Nancy Debra Barrows M.S. CCC-SLP on her Connected Human Conversations show.

And on many more.

That's how Showing Up: Perspectives On Cancer started.

By me sharing my story and then receiving so many messages of love and support.

You see, I stayed quiet about my cancer journey, which started in my 20s when I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, for 15 years.

I had never spoken to another CML survivor up to that point.

Only some close family members knew.

Now I know so many amazing CML survivors including Zoraida Morales, CTNC, Lynne Dagata, Alyssa Powell and Michele Bielik-Tschirhart.

And many other cancer patients, survivors and supporters through Showing Up: Perspectives On Cancer, which I created in November 2021, first as a show, then adding collaborative books, and in-person events.

In October 2024 Showing Up officially became a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

All with the goals of bringing cancer patients, survivors and supporters together to let them know they're not alone - and to share their stories when they're ready.
