DID YOU KNOW?? According to a survey conducted by PR Newswire in 2022, 27%… or a little over 1 in 4 small businesses indicated that they do not have a website! 🤯 This is wild!!! Especially considering this was barely a year out of the peak of the pandemic shutdown when most businesses were forced to shift to a digital format to reach and sell their products and services to their customers. Now, I’m certain many of these businesses created and have maintained a profile on social media… but we all know these platforms are not easy to navigate in connecting with and converting engagement to tangible business growth. Some are very successful in leveraging the socials while most are not.

A strong web presence with a website or profile page (your brand tethered to an active public website) offers a great opportunity to showcase your business, highlight your products and services, get valued one-on-one engagement with consumers to create a lasting brand impression. Allow me to reintroduce myself…👇🏾

Hi there! I’m Tim… owner & operator of N.H. media Group (NHMG for short), a Marketing Outreach agency providing Consumer Insights and Digital Strategy services to NW Arkansas small businesses with limited operating capital. I also own and operate the social media channels on Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and X, as well as a Foodie Blog .nwa (Yes, I love different local and cultural cuisines and enjoy reviewing and sharing awesome dining experiences!). I started NHMG back in 2008 (uh-oh… I just aged myself 😁) out of a keen interest in watching local small businesses come to life and a passion for seeing them thrive and grow! At the time I worked in retail management for a couple of national brand retailers where I learned the ins and outs of running a store, how to effectively merchandise products to appeal to customers, learned customer behavior and motivations for repeat visits, and the art of “upselling.” Armed with this knowledge and experience I decided to launch NHMG and have had the privilege of successfully serving several clients across different disciplines including retail, healthcare, insurance, beauty & wellness, and sports entertainment.

While I operate NHMG on a part-time basis, I also have the privilege of working in eCommerce with a Fortune 100 global retailer. With almost 2 decades of professional retail experience, I am retailer at heart and fully understand what it takes to operate a business, especially in an ever changing, ever evolving, fast paced digital economy. I can confidently say “I’ve been there and done that!”

Trying to start a business, creating something out of nothing, is one of the most challenging and frightening experiences ever. It is all due to self-inflicted fear.

➡️ The fear of investing time, energy, and resources into the venture and it doesn’t work.
➡️ Fear that no one will buy into what you’re selling.
➡️ Fear of asking for help.
➡️ Fear of rejection.
➡️ Fear of the more experienced competition.
➡️ Fear… and wonder that you might be a fraud.
➡️ Fear of disappointment with yourself.
➡️ Fear of ultimate failure.

All of these are very valid and normal, and honestly… expected.

However, what you should FEAR the most is the outcome of not starting and going for it.

Real talk!!! If you’re going to speak of “community,” you also need to show up for and be about “the community.” Small business enterprise is the lifeblood of any community, plain and simple. Not saying the “big ones” do not matter, but that the locally owned and operated need you more. Shop small, shop locally and dedicate a portion of every dollar to a local small business… even the ones unrelated to you. Much love y’all!!! ✌🏾❤️

There is never a straight path to success. Failure is a necessary prerequisite to attain and EARN success.

The great unknown is how many iterations of failure you have to endure and overcome to reach your measured goal of success. The key is to learn the valued lesson each point of failure brings. Make the necessary adjustments and try again. And then, rinse and repeat until the tide turns!

With each iteration, consistency in effort, continued focus and momentum… you will hit your goal because YOU. DID. NOT. QUIT. 😤

Crazy to think, but THIS WILL HAPPEN!!! What is created and exists today feels timeless. But the truth is materials and technologies will elevate, and consumer choice and tastes will evolve. It is inevitable. If you’re old enough, think about homes and spaces built 15-20 years ago that were all the rage in their time of newness, but look and feel “aged” and “dated” today. Like our homes and the real estate market, brand longevity requires the acknowledgment and willingness to evolve and grow to meet the consumer in their desired time frame to stay relevant. It is inevitable.
