The Mystery in Apartment #72
What ever happened in apartment #72 in the apartment complex that dark and dreary day in January several years ago, still remains a mystery today.
Molly and Lenny occupied apartment #72 for over 5 years, along with their little dachshund Oliver. They seemed to be a happy family. Their only source of income was Social Security. Lenny had worked on the railroad since he was 16 years old and Molly had always been a housewife, they didn’t have any children. Both Molly and Lenny had some minor medical problems, but nothing that was considered life threatening.
Lenny was seen often walking Oliver all over the apartment complex grounds and adjoining old golf course which is also a part of the apartment complex.
Molly loved to raise flowers and was seen every day weeding and watering her proud array of plants and flowers, in front of apartment #72.
Molly and Lenny didn’t own a car and they always used the city taxi service to go to the grocery store, shopping, doctor appointments and other events.
The neighbors became alarmed when they didn’t see Lenny walking Oliver at their usual time of 6:45 am, and by 7:15 am they didn’t see Molly outside tending to her flowers and plants as was their daily routine.
By 8:00 am all the neighbors were abuzz and decided to go to the apartment complex’s office and tell the property manager, Ralph. Ralph and the maintenance supervisor, Jose talked as to what they should do and by 8:30 am they decided to go to apartment #72 and try to make contact with Molly and Lenny.
Upon their arrival at apartment #72, they knocked on door but no one answered the door and they didn’t hear Oliver barking. Ralph and Jose decided to open the apartment door. Upon entering the apartment they found that neither Molly or Lenny and Oliver were nowhere to be found; so just where was everyone?

To recap the story; Molly and Lenny and their little dog Oliver are nowhere to be found, when the Ralph the Property Manager and Jose the Maintenance Supervisor entered apartment #72. The entire apartment community was all abuzz…….just where could they be?
Ralph and Jose called the police to see if they had any information. Upon talking with the desk sergeant, they said that Molly and Lenny was there at police station filing a report that Oliver, their little dog had gone missing during the night. And they were in process of having a missing dog flyers made up with a picture of Oliver on it for the patrol officers to be on the lool out for little Oliver.
Ralph and Jose, knowing that Molly and Lenny depended on taxi service to get around, immediately drove to the police station to pick-up the couple. When they arrived at the station, it was decided to drive around to look for Oliver.
They all loaded in the car and drove around for several hours, but there was no sign of Oliver. So they came back to the apartment complex, where they were meant by the dog catcher. He had found Oliver hanging around Dee’s Diner on the Circle and since Oliver had been micro chipped, the dog catcher was able to bring Oliver back home safely.
Molly and Lenny were overjoyed that Oliver was back in their loving arms, and were very glad that they had had Oliver micro chipped. But how Oliver got out would always remain a mystery, had he slipped out front door, or got through sliding glass door being left ajar ……Oliver wasn’t talking. But Molly and Lenny will definitely keep eye on him from now on!
