Yesterday saw the end of era…. After nearly 20 years, my go-to lens for portraits and wildlife got replaced. The focus was struggling and stuck in AF ( switch broke and is taped in place with electrical tape ).

I found a flawless used copy of the newest Nikkor version at NCE and picked it up. Absolutely cannot distinguish from new. Lens technology has come a LONG way since 1997.

So today I’m out putting my new lens through the paces. 30 day evaluation period on it, so l'm going to make sure it's as perfect functionally as it looks.
Pretty impressive so far. Incredibly fast and accurate focus and TACK SHARP.
The zoom vs focus layout is opposite of my old lens, so there is a little bit of a learning curve after 18 years doing it one way...
I'm sure I'lI overcome the 'struggle'

Selling one of my great camera lenses was a bit like losing a close friend. I've shot 10's of thousands of pictures with that lens on at least 4 different camera bodies over the past 20+ years. Hopefully it will serve it's new owner as well as it did me.

Now to re-invest the money into something new. Thinking the 12-24mm f/4 sounds nice. Sometimes a 'broader' (wider) perspective is a good thing.
