Oh hey, it's Website Launch Friday! 🎉

This week, we're celebrating all of the amazingness that is Voluntary Action Center ❤️

has been serving Mid-MO for 50 years to respond to the basic needs of individuals within our community. In 2025 alone, they helped 631 students start the school year with supplies, purchased 5,229 bags of groceries after the sudden loss of SNAP benefits in October, and helped over 1,100 families receive gifts for the holidays.

And now, they're opening the VAC Opportunity Campus, which will include access to resources, emergency shelter with case management, and pathways to permanent housing.

Their dedication to this community deserved a website that matched their heart. We worked alongside the always-incredible branding by to build something that speaks to both those in need and those who are ready to show up for their neighbors. (Thanks for letting us be a part of it!)

Hey there! Erica here. Guess what? I vibe coded my first app.

This will be the first year that both of my kiddos (ages 5 and 12) will be home all summer while I continue working full-time, also from home. 🙃 🫠 🥲 Fortunately, one of my super powers is overthinking problems to the point it becomes a hyperfixation! So, I built a self-hosted web app with Claude Code.

You can read about the project, as well as the five things I learned that were valuable insights into our business on our blog. (Because I can't be the only WFH parent who's a little concerned about balancing work and family time over the summer.) -> https://pixeljam.digital/blog/5-things-i-learned-from-vibe-coding-my-kids-summer-schedule/

Ultimately, my hyperfixation superpower came through. I over-engineered a summer schedule, learned some things along the way, and now have a fully functional app that my kids will probably ignore before the end of June. Worth it!

On May 13, 2026, Google announced a new feature inside Google Analytics that will help you track user traffic from popular chatbots.

This new attribution will show when people click through to your website from chatbots like Claude or ChatGPT.

"Ok, cool, but WTF does this mean for me as a small biz owner?"

You can now actually see how much of your traffic is coming from AI and determine if they're valuable leads who are converting. No more guessing or assuming!

To check this out in your GA account, go to Reports → Generate Leads → Traffic Acquisition → then set your search to “session source/medium” to see if you’re getting user traffic from AI. (Need help? Send us a DM!)

Now for the bigger question: How often do you review your website's traffic? 🫣

Oh hey, it's website launch Friday! 🎉

Most entrepreneurs don't start their business to become accounting experts. (We sure as hell didn't!) They start because they're great at what they do, whether that's creating, building, or serving their community.

Groundswell Financial was created to lift that accounting burden by providing CFO guidance in plain English so small business owners aren't drowning in reports. And our job was to make sure their website reflected exactly that.

The new site walks visitors through their three service tiers: Day-to-Day bookkeeping, Direction for forward-thinking analysis, and Decision for deeper strategic forecasting. Each one is clearly laid out so potential clients can self-identify where they are and what they need, without feeling overwhelmed.

We love building websites for businesses that lead with genuine human connection.💜

WordPress will be releasing version 7.0 later this month (May 20, 2026), and one of the big new features is its AI integration.

This version will come with an AI connector "hub" that will let you easily connect your model of choice. (Think OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.) All you need to do is enable your connector within the "Settings > Connectors" panel, add your API keys, and do a lil configuration to get the platforms talking. Once you get this set up, any compatible plugin is also connected automatically.

Again, our concerns don't stem from the fear of being replaced. Instead, we're worried about all of the what-ifs that could likely happen. The "invisible" problems you won't know to watch for.

What if ChatGPT replaces all of your content across every service page, rather than limiting it to the main Service page as requested?

What if you ask Claude Code to build a pricing calculator on a particular page, but the entire page breaks because you're using a page builder, and there's no way to fix it without rebuilding?

What if you open up a security hole by mistake, and your site gets infested with malware?

The problem is: AI is confident even when it's wrong.

WordPress 7.0 will include some neat features, and the AI integration has a lot of potential to help streamline managing your site. We recommend you enable this and test it out in a staging environment (e.g. not your live website - don't worry, we can hook you up) to see what it can do, and learn what you need to do to use it responsibly.

We share this because we believe it's important to be informed and aware, especially since you've invested a lot of time, effort, and money in your website.

We wanted to take a moment and share the inspiration behind our slightly updated brand for no other reason than that it's fun.

First and foremost, our core pink, purple and blue color palette isn't going away. That's our favorite part!

Instead of limiting ourselves to one particular aesthetic, we're choosing to lean into several in order to keep that nostalgic-yet-funky feel:
💜 80s Synthwave: That geometric sunset is everything.
💜 Vaporwave: It's the combo of color and brutalism for us.
💜 Retrofuturism: It's giving arcade chic.
💜 Cyberpunk: Maybe we're closer to this in real life than we care to admit.
💜 Holographic: Who doesn't love iridescence?

Which style do YOU vibe with the most?

Oh hey, it's Website Launch Friday! 🎉

This week we're spotlighting Central Missouri Countertops and celebrating the chance to work with one of our favorite people, Chrissy Jones.

Erica met Chrissy through the Chamber of Commerce back in the pre-pandemic days. After collaborating on a project together, Chrissy went on to nominate Pixel Jam for Small Business of the Year in 2023, and we were a Top 5 finalist!

The new CMC website was built to highlight their material selection. We developed individual material pages to educate customers on their options, plus a browsable project gallery so visitors can explore different stone types across different spaces. And since CMC's audience is largely B2B, we also built out a dedicated Dealer Portal to serve as a centralized hub with everything their trade partners need.

Ok, we know this echoes almost every other project we share... but this post is as much about the beautiful work we got to do for CMC as it is about the friendships we're lucky enough to build along the way. 💜

We know a lot of our nonprofit friends choose to manage their own websites based on efficiency and cost - which you know we're in full support of.

But, do you know what to check for after:
✔️ Writing a blog post?
✔️ Adding new images?
✔️ Updating page content?
✔️ Linkin to an external website?

On Wednesday, May 13, we'll be hosting a 100% totally free, one-hour training to teach you the very basics of auditing and fixing accessibility issues on your Wordpress website. We'll discuss which tools to use, what to test for, and how to perform basic fixes. (FYI this would not cover Javascript-related fixes for more complex issues presented by third-party tools, like donation software or chatbots.)

Some of you already have staff members who are savvy and do this regularly, or external providers who can assist. THIS specific training would be for your day-to-day user who's making basic changes to content like creating events, adding donation forms, updating content on pages, etc. Just enough so they know what to do, and what to watch out for.

If you're interested, please register on our website: https://pixeljam.digital/blog/free-website-accessibility-training-for-nonprofits/

💻️ Real-time, virtual workshop via Google Meet

Can't attend on May 13? We'll also be recording this training! So if you can't make it, please go ahead and register so we can send you the recording afterthefact!

Oh hey, it's website launch Friday! 🎉 (We know... we're LONG overdue on this one.)

Back in December 2025, Pixel Jam Digital partnered with Spray Drone Network to help bring their dream business to life with a fully custom SaaS website. And, to add a lil' spice to the project, they needed it done by the end of January. 👀

Spray Drone Network connects and equips spray drone applicators, dealers, and industry leaders through shared knowledge, collaboration, and access to trusted resources — building stronger businesses and a stronger industry together.

Here's what the launched site supports:
✅ Multiple membership levels
✅ A custom search algorithm tailored to their map
✅ A sponsor dashboard for managing advertisements
✅ An admin panel to moderate users, services, drones, testimonials, and sponsors

The site is packed with customizations under the hood — but the goal was always to keep it feeling simple, approachable, and easy to manage for agricultural professionals.

We're proud of what we created, but the best part of the project was the opportunity to work with two truly amazing business owners. (Which is really the best part of every project!)

With all of this talk about AI, it's only fair that we address how we use it as a tool in our business.

In short: We're not boycotting AI, but we're not going all-in either... Even though it's as tempting as the One Ring.

To start, we've been testing many of the different tools because we feel it's important to know what's available, how they work, and why other agencies might use them. Platforms like Claude Code and Wix now have AI generators that build websites for you. Figma and Canva offer AI-driven design tools. We've tried them to see how they work, and what they produce, but that doesn't mean we're incorporating them into our workflow.

Currently, we use AI to:
➡️ Help us troubleshoot coding issues we're stuck on, like finding the missing semicolon in 20,000 lines of code.
➡️ Grammar and spellcheck (mainly because it's baked into Google Workspace, and we can't turn it off).
➡️ Generate code blocks based on our own logic systems and variables that we then go and adjust and test before implementing. This helps us make our programming process more efficient.
➡️ Summarize and refine content to get up to speed more quickly when we receive a lot of information and content to process for a site build.
➡️ Double-check our own SEO research prior to creating content to make sure we haven't missed anything.

And, just as important, here's what we're NOT using AI for:
❌️ Writing blog posts from scratch and posting them verbatim.
❌️ Vibe coding.
❌️ Generating graphics, photos or videos. (It's been a challenge identifying which stock photo sites sneak AI images in without labeling them, as we've accidentally used a couple before educating ourselves more.)

We see how AI can help, but it's difficult to get past some of these ethical implications and the capitalist infrastructure behind it. Expectations within the industry are shifting, for better or worse, and we're figuring it out as we go. The difference is we're trying to do it mindfully.
