How to Run Facebook Ads
Hi, I'm Andy Ryan. And for those of you who don't know, I own an online media company that specializes in Facebook Ads. 90% of people that I talk to about Facebook Ads say that Facebook Ads "just doesn't work for my type of business".
Some of these people have even tried running Facebook Ads and didn't get the results they expected. So they just assume they can't be successful because of the type of their business. Then they go on at length about why it won't work. And I sit there and listen, holding my tongue, because I just want to yell "Bull S**t!".
I get a lot of satisfaction when I can prove people wrong... I think we all do. And what's even better is when I can prove them wrong by helping them succeed. Turns out most business people don't know what they are doing when it comes to Facebook Ads or even basic marketing. They're great at their business. A great restaurant probably has an amazing chef as the owner. You see what I mean? I live in the marketing bubble. I'm a student of marketing. My mentors are the top Facebook Ads people in the world. I've spent over $50,000 in ad spend on different Facebook Ads for all kinds of types of businesses in the past couple of years. And that's a lot of ads considering you can spend as low as $1 per day on Facebook Ads.
I know it's not easy to set up and run a successful Facebook Ad campaign. So that's why I'm here to help.
If you're still reading/watching at this point this is what I'd like to do for you. If you're interested in trying Facebook Ads or you want to try again, I want to help you. Let me know what type of business you have, what you are trying to sell and I will explain how I would create the campaign.
Some things to consider:
1. The ONE Objective:
1. The ad should have one goal. When you have several goals for an ad it becomes diluted and ineffective. For instance if you want leads, then try and get leads. Don't try for sales and more Likes on your page as well. Pick one goal, the most important one, and create the campaign around it. Facebook lets you create campaigns for completed sales, leads, website clicks, video views, impressions etc.
2. Targeting:
1. Who is your ideal customer? - the more detailed the better
1. Where is your customer physically located? I'm talking about in your city, state, certain zip codes.
2. Gender, Age, and other specific demographics: behaviors, job titles, interests etc.
3. Placement: where are these ads going to appear? Facebook gives us 5 options: Desktop, Desktop Right Column, Mobile, Mobile Network (shows your ads in other apps), and Instagram.
3. Split Testing: Always have a second version of your ad running. See which one works better, take that one and make a second version. Keep doing this so you can scale your ad spend.
Here are some examples of types of businesses I've worked with:
Real Estate Brokerages - I've worked with Realtors and Real Estate Brokerages all over the US generating seller leads for as little as $6 each. That's a huge ROI when they turn a $6 lead into a listing that goes to closing.
Local Festivals - Ran video ads for several festivals, the best results being $400 in ad spend in a little over a month generated $9000 in pre-event ticket sales online. That's a 21.5X ROI, not including the $12,000 in ticket sales the day of the event.
Pest Control - set up a simple ad that allows potential customers to click a button to call right from the ad on their phone. They get so many calls they added another exterminator, another truck and extended batteries for their cell phones.
Downtown District - Created a series of video ads shot to entice visitors to the downtown district of a local city. The objective was for video views, and in two months the first video alone was shared 500 times and watched by over 100,000 people within an hour drive of the city.
Online Course - Ran ads targeting people all over the US with a job description that related to the course material. Generated over $15,000 in sales in less than two months.
Other types of businesses we've had great success with their Facebook Ads:
* Personal Training Gym
* Amazon Seller
* Business Coach
* Farm to Table Dinner Event
* Small Business owners
* Dentists
* T-shirt company (e-commerce)
* Moving Truck Company
* Online Marketers
* Festivals
* Maid Service
* Wine and Paint Party Business
* Direct Sales Businesses (you know, MLMs)
So please comment the type of business you own and give me some details on what your objective is and I'll comment back with my personal recommendation on what to do. How to set up your strategy, targeting or ads. I'll check back from time to time throughout the day and try and respond to everyone.
