Wrapping up my reading on Deep Work and realizing I still have a ways to go on incorporating more of it into my day-to-day. This book does inspire me to do more deep work and I’ve also realized that things like business travel totally derail the methods I have found that work best for me to incorporate deep work into my life. Working on this! What has your experience with deep work been?

This month’s book club book, Conscious, is interesting to read as I find myself wanting to go back to previous book club picks like Stolen Focus and Indistractable (and then Nir Eyal’s previous book, Hooked)… as I consider consciousness more, I think about how we sacrifice our attention and presence to our technology. Are we dumbing down our human abilities as we bolster technology beyond our human comprehension? This book is small, but fun to read as it helps me think of why my own focus is so valuable to me, my family, and the rest of the world. And meditation connects me to both a greater tie to my consciousness and a greater respect for the challenges that my tech habits present. Good stuff.

Wonderhell by Laura Gassner Otting was the May/June book pick for the Association Chat Book Club. I am just now getting into it. Has anyone else read it yet? I’m excited! This was a pick from and I’m loving it so far! If you’ve ever felt like the success you achieved didn’t quite give you the satisfaction or peace you’d anticipated, this book helps explain why and then tells you how to go about finding greater happiness for yourself. 🤩 By the way, for you overachievers, I’ll post about the June/July book pick in the next IG post. The book gets released next week so we’re kind of in a holding pattern until it’s available, which is good because it will give me a chance to catch up!
