"When I first started, I thought sales might be a good opportunity to help prepare me for future endeavors within business, but I didn’t expect to be very good at it.

I figured I’d give it a real shot and at the very least gain some valuable experience. Now, I’m ranked #2 in the nation out of non-CSPs for SC2 and #81 for the year overall.

Because of the confidence, discipline, and communication skills I’ve developed, I’ve even started receiving a decent amount of job offers from other companies.

This experience hasn’t just helped me succeed in sales, it’s helped me unlock a stronger, more driven version of myself.

Selling Cutco has not only boosted my confidence, it’s helped me develop communication, problem-solving, and people skills that directly connect to both of my majors, business management and psychology.

It’s taught me how to connect with people, lead with empathy, and stay focused on results. These are the exact skills I’ll use in my future career running businesses and helping people through therapy."

- Jenelle Jacobs, Business Management and Psychology major at University of Kansas

Before sales experience, rejection felt personal to Mason Farrington. Every difficult conversation felt like something to avoid instead of something to learn from. But over time, that changed completely. He realized confidence doesn’t come before challenge. It comes after enough uncomfortable reps. Every “no” became proof he was still moving forward instead of proof he should stop.

That shift strengthened his communication skills, confidence, and perspective on growth overall. Real-world experience taught him that there are always more doors ahead if someone keeps walking. That lesson stayed with him far beyond the work itself.

"What truly motivates me is the opportunity for growth.
~
Ever since I was young, I knew that there was something powerful about serving others. This summer, I'll get the chance to serve my team as a branch manager. And after that, I'll be serving full time as a missionary!
~
I don’t know exactly where I’ll be going yet, but I’m really excited for the experience. I’ve wanted to be a missionary since I was eight years old. I know serving a mission will bring me closer to God and refine me into a stronger, more Christlike person.
~
A big part of being a missionary is building relationships, something that I feel like Vector has actually prepared me for!
~
I used to be introverted, but now it feels normal to walk up to someone I don’t know and start a conversation. I’ve learned how to ask better questions and genuinely connect with people on a deeper level. I've learned that every rejection just brings you one step closer to your next yes.
~
I’ve also realized that what I’m doing isn’t transactional, whether it's selling a product or spreading the gospel. It’s about best serving the person in front of me.
~
What I’ve valued most through all of this is the people. Watching others accomplish goals far beyond their circumstances expanded my vision and forced me to confront my own limitations.
~
Being surrounded by the right people hasn’t just removed my limiting beliefs, it has elevated my standards and proven that growth is intentional, and environment shapes who you become.
~
In a lot of ways, stepping into leadership and preparing to branch reminds me of preparing for a mission. Not only do I have a chance to grow as an individual, but I also have the chance to change someone else’s life.
~
At the end of the day, I believe that when you choose sincere service and consistent gratitude, you don’t just bless others, you're transformed in the process." - Cassie Couch, Branch Manager (Greenville, SC) | Greenville Tech

Most people wait until after graduation to build real communication skills and confidence. Chris Sterrett realized the biggest thing he gained with Vector Marketing wasn’t just work experience. It was learning how to communicate better, manage his time, and handle pressure before most people ever do.

Through consistent practice, he built confidence that carried far beyond the position itself. Flexible work gave him independence, but the effort he put in determined the growth he experienced.

Will selling Cutco actually be a good fit for my child?

This is probably the most commonly asked question on the list. So we asked the parents of current new District Manager, Stephanie Helgeson, to hear their perspective.

Admittedly, they had that exact question. Stephanie was shy. The idea of her making calls and delivering sales presentations didn’t exactly match who she was at the time.

However, she accepted the role and went through the training anyway. What happened next caught her parents off guard ...

By summer 2025, Stephanie placed 7th in the nation in branch sales. The same kid her parents weren’t sure could handle it.

Before sales, Alishba Rauf's days were packed with an accounting internship and late nights in a health insurance call center. Even while constantly working, she felt mentally drained and disconnected from the work itself. As someone naturally outgoing, sitting behind a computer all day never felt sustainable.

That’s what pushed her toward work that rewarded communication skills, confidence, and accountability instead of just hours worked. She started building real-world experience through conversations, ownership, and flexibility.

"I heard about this opportunity from a letter in the mail three summers ago.
~
At the time, I was 18, had bills to pay, and was working a fast food job. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but it sounded like a better opportunity than what I was doing, so I was interested.
~
But then the questions started coming.
~
"I don’t even cook, does this make sense?"
"I’ve never done sales before, how would I do?"
"I don’t even have a car, how would I get anywhere?"
And the biggest one of all…
"I’ve had a stutter for over a decade. Why would I do this?"
~
What made me take the chance was just being open-minded enough to get more information before deciding. I went to the interview, got accepted, and was nervous but excited to start training.
~
Everything was going great… until we started making phone calls. I got insecure, started overthinking, and almost folded.
~
But I remembered a quote that I heard from ...“Don’t judge my life’s book based on the chapter you walked in on.” It reminded me that even though my stutter had held me back in the past, this was the start of a new chapter.
~
Since then, I’ve had the chance to grow in ways I never expected. I’ve taken on more responsibility, stepped into leadership roles, spoken in front of hundreds of people at conferences, sold more than I ever thought I could, and most importantly, started to grow into the best version of myself.
~
I would have never thought a letter in the mail could have changed everything for me. My District Manager , all the people I’ve worked with along the way, and the countless demos with Mrs. Jones have shaped the person I am today. All of it has made me realize that on the other side of fear is confidence.
~
I thank God for this blessing of an opportunity and I’m so happy I get to share it with others. This isn’t just a knife job, it’s a life job." - Xander Troche, Assistant Manager (Oak Brook, IL) | Business & Real Estate major at College Of DuPage (Class of 2026)

Rob Robincheck realized early that his strength wasn’t just talking to people, it was building real relationships. In a space where many focus on quick results, he leaned into connection instead. That shift changed everything. Through consistent conversations, follow-ups, and genuine interest, he started to see how trust compounds over time. What began as simple student work turned into real-world experience in communication skills and long-term thinking. Watching customers return year after year showed him something most people don’t learn early: people don’t just buy once, they stay where they feel understood. It makes you wonder how far relationships alone can take someone.

Joseph Anton started questioning the normal path before he even knew what the alternative looked like. Everyone around him talked about school, degrees, and following the usual roadmap. As a student, that pressure felt automatic. What changed for him was realizing growth doesn’t always come from staying comfortable.

Through student work that pushed him outside his routine, he built communication skills, confidence, and real-world experience earlier than expected. The hardest part wasn’t the work itself. It was trusting himself enough to try something different instead of simply following the crowd.
