Page1 Branding I work with businesses to clarify their message, design a brand they'll want to share, and launch a website they'll actually love to use. She is my balance.

My name is Stephen Palacino, and I graduated from North Greenville University with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Spanish and Public Relations. I've worked in advertising and marketing for over 10 years, and even met my wife (also a graphic designer) while working at an ad agency. After branding my parents' company, Red Clay Soap in 2012, I launched Page1 Branding, comb

ining my background in traditional advertising with a love for design. I now work with entrepreneurs and businesses on web design, graphic design, and brand development. Whether designing for a corporate client, or launching a startup, design is merely a tool used to accomplish a greater purpose. Defining this purpose with clients is my passion. For me, good design is the outcome of understanding. When you focus on understanding a client for who they are, rather than what they want to do, you're better able to visualize their needs.

Never make decisions while your eyes are still adjusting!

When you turn the lights off, it takes a minute for your eyes to adjust. Sometimes it can take a while depending on how bright it was and how quickly it became dark.

Social media pushes us to change. Change now! Level up! 3x! Results, results, outcome, outcome. But few are asking “how are you?” Even fewer are asking “who are you?”

But greatness can often be found on the other side of grace.

We need to give ourselves grace in seasons of transition. It can take time to adjust. There’s grace for that. It can take time to develop a strong plan. There’s grace for that. Social media gurus want to sell the result, but the results are given without regard for your season.

Maybe it’s time to level up. Maybe. But if you find yourself in transition, maybe it’s time to pause. Maybe it’s time to evaluate and wait until your eyes adjust. Waiting doesn’t often make the most money, but it can often bring the most peace.

If you’re a designer and this way of thinking resonates with you, I hope you’ll join me at The Designer Retreat where we’ll talk a lot more about seasons, grace, and our identity as designers.

Before starting on a new website, make sure your business ideas and design ideas are in sync. I've outlined three questions to ask before starting a new website.

No, you don't need a website. At least not now. What you need is a plan. What you need is a business that's viable. What you need it time to hash out your ideas. And no, I don't recommend "putting something up," and changing it later. Too often, I've seen businesses get swept
