Never make decisions while your eyes are still adjusting!
When you turn the lights off, it takes a minute for your eyes to adjust. Sometimes it can take a while depending on how bright it was and how quickly it became dark.
Social media pushes us to change. Change now! Level up! 3x! Results, results, outcome, outcome. But few are asking “how are you?” Even fewer are asking “who are you?”
But greatness can often be found on the other side of grace.
We need to give ourselves grace in seasons of transition. It can take time to adjust. There’s grace for that. It can take time to develop a strong plan. There’s grace for that. Social media gurus want to sell the result, but the results are given without regard for your season.
Maybe it’s time to level up. Maybe. But if you find yourself in transition, maybe it’s time to pause. Maybe it’s time to evaluate and wait until your eyes adjust. Waiting doesn’t often make the most money, but it can often bring the most peace.
If you’re a designer and this way of thinking resonates with you, I hope you’ll join me at The Designer Retreat where we’ll talk a lot more about seasons, grace, and our identity as designers.
