The 2016 Media Buying Academy’s Michael M. CostelloScholarship Award

Background:
The Media Buying Academy Group’s memorial scholarship is named in honor of Michael M. Costello, who worked in the advertising industry for most of his life. He began his career at a popular radio station in Baltimore, WITH-AM, where he sold radio time. From there, he joined J. Walter Thompson’s creative team. He also spent many years as Ehrlich-Manes Associates Senior Vice President, Creative Director. Towards the end of his career, he free-lanced his advertising knowledge and expertise to a long list of loyal, satisfied followers.Since its inception in 1996, the Michael M. Costello Scholarship Award has been awarded to mass communications students from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, San Jose State University, Temple University, Arkansas State University, Iowa State University, and South Dakota State University.

The Selection Process:
One winner is chosen from the applications received prior to April 1 of each year. The winner is determined based on a 500 words or less essay on why that applicant feels he or she deserves the scholarship.The scholarship consists of the 4 ½ media buying training at any class location within the year of the scholarship at no charge to the scholarship winner. The winner pays only for their workbooks, a flat rate of $250.00 for the five workbooks.

Who is Eligible:
The only requirement is that the applicant be enrolled on a full-time basis at a four-year college, majoring in mass communication and have the desire to further their education in the media buying field.

Applications:
To apply for the scholarship, students must complete the 500 words or less essay relating to why they feel they should win the scholarship along with their contact information, including:Full Name Address City/State/ZipPhone, e-mail and Fax.Applications are accepted all year long for the following year’s scholarship. Choosing a Winner:
All essays are reviewed by Media Buying Academy’s CEO and President. After reviewing all submissions, a joint decision is made as to who that year’s scholarship winner will be.
