Most churches aren’t struggling on social media because they don’t care… They’re struggling because they’re communicating the wrong way.
We post announcements but call it outreach.
The truth? People who don’t already attend your church don’t care about your calendar.
If your content only speaks to insiders, it will only reach insiders.
We use language that makes sense to us such as “Next Steps,” “Fellowship Night,” “Classes”…
But to someone far from God, that language creates confusion, not connection.
If a first-time guest can’t understand your post in 3 seconds, they’ve already scrolled past it.
And maybe the biggest one: We create content that informs… but doesn’t move people. Announcements don’t get shared. But something that makes someone feel seen? That gets sent, saved, and shared.
The shift is simple, but not easy:
Speak to people who aren’t in the room yet.
Say it in a way they understand.
And create content that makes them feel something.
Because reach isn’t about posting more…
It’s about connecting deeper.
