Before there were websites and such concerns as website ROI - http://www.webpagemistakes.ca/website-roi/ - our ancestors painted on the walls of caves - http://www.lascaux.culture.fr/?lng=en #/fr/02_07_00.xml . That’s right. The first form of visual communication and the first attempt to influence a return on investment can be traced back to our Cro-Magnon ancestors. By creating beautiful images of animals, these early humans were attempting to influence future hunting success. Their paintings were meant to invoke magic, call on the powers that be, make something happen...which is still the aim of visual design. And today instead of painting on cave walls, we light up screens with pixel pictographs. Wonder what’s next?
