Dolly Parton was a true original. đ âšđ
Her talent made her an icon. But it was the way she used her success that made her an example: building boldly, giving generously, and treating kindness as a strength.
Dolly showed us that business can be about more than growth for growthâs sake. It can create opportunity, strengthen communities, and open doors for others. These are just a few of the ways her generosity helped shape the world:
đ Through her Imagination Library, she helped put more than 300 million books into the hands of children, expanding access to literacy and inspiring a love of reading around the world.
đ In 1994, long before LGBTQ+ allyship was widely embraced in country music, Dolly contributed to an HIV/AIDS benefit album and joined a public awareness campaign bringing AIDS education to rural communities.
đ In 2020, she donated $1 million to COVID-19 research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, supporting work that contributed to the Moderna vaccine.
đ And after wildfires devastated the Great Smoky Mountains in 2016, her My People Fund provided families who had lost their homes with $1,000 a month for up to six months as they began rebuilding their lives.
Dolly showed us that ambition and generosity never have to compete. You can be strategic and kind. Successful and giving. Unmistakably yourself while making space for others.
Thank you, Dolly, for showing generations of dreamers and doers what that can look like. Your actions changed lives, and your legacy will continue to inspire.
What lesson from Dollyâs life will stay with you? đđœ
