Apparently the grade portal being down was supposed to come with a complimentary cancellation of all assignments. 😂

Unfortunately, nobody told the curriculum.

Teachers, what completely normal classroom expectation gets the biggest “You cannot be serious right now” reaction from your students?

Reading the directions?
Taking notes?
Turning work in?
Bringing a pencil?
Doing another assignment?

I need to know what gets the most dramatic response in your room. 😭

I finally had the time.

I had the assignments.

And apparently that was too much alignment for one evening. 😂

Today was actually a good day.

The class went well. The students were working. Most things were moving the way they were supposed to.

And then, of course, a few people arrived confused by choices they personally made. 😂

You know the look.

The one where they stand there waiting for you to explain a situation they created all by themselves.

Teachers, what happened today that made you think, “Now how exactly did this become my problem?”

I really was going to relax today.

Then somewhere around Sunday evening my teacher brain decided to open every mental tab at once. 😩😂

Did I pack what I need?
Did I forget something?
Do I need to change that lesson?
Where is that one thing I KNOW I brought home?

Meanwhile, Monday is just sitting there minding everybody’s business.

Teachers, what did you end up doing tonight that you fully intended to leave for tomorrow?

Saturday teacher luxury:

Sitting down.
Eating actual food.
Chewing it.
Finishing it.

And not once looking at the clock like I’m about to miss something. 😂

Day 4 and I’m beginning to think this may not be an isolated incident. 😂

At first I thought, Okay… nice day.

Then it happened again.

So naturally, we have now entered the research and documentation phase. 👀📝

Listen, I’m happy. I’m grateful. I’m enjoying it.

I’m also keeping records. 😭

Day 3 and things were going suspiciously well. 😂

The kids were working.
They were participating.
They were having fun.
Nobody was actively testing my patience.

And that is exactly when I started looking around like…

“Alright. What’s going on here?” 😭

Teachers, what happened this week that made you suspicious because everything was going a little too smoothly?

Day 2 of school:

I explained what to do.
I gave examples of what to do.
I answered questions about what to do.

And somehow… we still ended up back at:

“Wait… what are we supposed to do?” 😭😂

At some point, you just start wondering if the directions entered the room and immediately left through another door.

First day back with students is officially DONE. 👏🏾😂

And you know what?

It was actually a really good day.

Did everything go perfectly? Absolutely not.
Did I survive? Yep.
Did the students survive? Also yep.
Do I currently have enough energy to do anything else?

That answer is classified. 😭

Sunday before students return is such a specific type of denial. 😂

I’m not ignoring Monday.
I’m just refusing to make eye contact with it.

The bag is packed.
The keys are ready.
The lesson plans exist… technically.
But mentally? I’m still somewhere between snacks, coffee, and pretending I have one more day.
